Clearly not. I thought nimley and Norwood were useful additions but gss will not even give him credit there. Bit harsh in my view.

Both loans so no transfer fee involved.

You said he had no dealings whatsoever in who goes in or out. Make you're mind up.

It depends what you're arguing here. I would suggest he can pick players to buy and sell based in accordance with what he's allowed. What he's allowed though is f all which means that he's often reduced to grabbing whatever he can as long as it means SISU spending what is most of the time nothing.

Ok you said further up 'The bloke hasn't got a clue about who's coming and going.' Now your saying I would suggest he can pick players to buy and sell based in accordance with what he's allowed . Not sure what your trying to say now.

I agree with accrodance to the budget but most managers have to work with a budget nowadays.

But there are fees associated with loans. You said thorn had no dealings with anything financial. So wrong. Also did he not tell the truth when ha said he was chasing McDonald. I believe him don't you?

This is getting stupid now. It is plainly ridiculous to suggest Thorn wants any players sold. Why would he be as worried as the fans every transfer window if that wasn't the case?

The bloke hasn't got a clue about who's coming and going. When he's informed in interviews about speculation of players being sold he's as surprised and upset as we are!

Far more evidence to suggest he has no control over transfer dealings due to the financial side than anything to the contrary.

Ridiculous.

The Thorn In/Out stuff has been stupid for a long time now. The manager isn't going to have 100% control over transfers, nor will he have absolutely no control over them-as with everything Thorn related, the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. It's well documented that he spends a large chunk of his time on scouting duties-he'll find players he wants, some of whom won't want to join/we can't afford, but a small number will. There's nothing sinister about that; it's just how football works, whether you're Coventry City or not.

I refuse to believe that AT is the only thing worth talking about on a CCFC forum.

SISU have the final say.

Thorn can pick players but SISU have the final say.

How does that conflict with anything anyone here has said to you meddling kids.

I agree and my initial comment was not even critical if the deal. The subsequent guff that followed though had to initiate a response.

The issue in question is not even a big deal.

What i don’t get is mate. We have posters on here saying Thorn didn’t want McDonald but was forced upon by SISU but then Thorn comes out in the paper and says Cody was his first choice.

I can see the reply already Duffy.

‘What’s he gonna say? I didn’t want Cody and SISU forced me’

My reply would be...He should say

‘ we needed a striker as were short up front and cody was the obvious choice.’

Thorn can do no wrong when it suit's, I am beginning to wonder what he does do, and what is the point of having him at the club.

He has no say in who comes or goes (only those players that are quite good or are shit so leaving/getting rid was good business by AT), he is not to blame when we lose but it's a master stroke by the genius when we win.

Turner's gone as have many players in the past and as many will do in the future, to believe this manager has had no say in anything to do with the team must just be another excuse to defend him, otherwise as I say why employ him?

Next time we win surely this is down to sisu and not AT.

And as usual all of you AT bashers never reply to this simple question again.

Should AT of said there were players he wanted before Cody, but SISU kept saying no as the transfer costs involved were too high, such as transfer fee and wages. "Hey Cody, wanted ALF and a few others before you. SISU have saved a lot of money each week, including 10k a week on King alone, but you are the best I can afford"

Would have been a good confidence boost eh?

SISU decide who goes (when what they consider decent money is offered).

Thorn decides who comes in (within a pathetic budget).

It's not rocket science.

Like i said 2 posts up. All he had to say was "We needed a striker and Cody was avaliable, im happy with our signing" not have the biggest wank ever over his 'no' 1 target... theres a difference. So baiscally what your saying is everything Thorn says in the paper is bollocks?

They won't answer that as they're desperate to get him out because they're unreasonable. Luckily the majority of fans that actually go to matches don't agree. They can keep posting tripe while Thorn keeps doing a decent job with a poor squad - and the fans keep chanting 'Andy Thorn's Sky Blue Army'.

Where's the confidence boost in that?

Would you tell a boxer you're training that he's not the best but you're happy to have him?

haha so its called confidence boost now is it. I love the spin on here. They use quotes as gospel and then say the quotes are used for confidence boosting. You can't make it up.

Maybe it is not rocket science, but people can only see what they want to see sometimes. Just another bit of ammo that don't exist in real life to use against AT as nothing can be done against SISU

What a pathetic reason to want rid of a manager. You people are lucky we didn't get Cotterill!

Part of me wants Thorn to go just so we can have an end to this tit for tat bickering; until the next manager came along, of course. Let it go chaps! :slap:

It passes the working day though mate.

If certain people want to take a message board serious then they really have no life. All that matters is a saturday afternoon at 3pm.

And if AT had the quality of players on the bench as Forest he would not have been able to do so?

I was hoping you'd walk into that one.

You've just shown us all that you rate Forest's manager (with a squad likely to cost 3 times ours) higher than Andy Thorn (with the cheapest and youngest squad in the league).

The teams are 3 points apart in case you didn't know.

We knew all along you weren't looking at the bigger picture.

Thanks.

Who knows????

All we do know is that day, forest were there for the taking yet we didn't muster a single shot for there keeper to make a save. Same Forest team who went to Birmingham and got a result. That result against us gave them a platform.

I know-it's passing work for me quite nicely at the moment. Still, threads like this are all over the forum and it's getting tiresome that people are happy bitching ad infinitum over a bald bloke from Carshalton.

Of course he's not perfect - no manager is.

There ARE a sad few on here trying to claim he's terrible though - and they're using pathetic things (such as a soundbites on Cody MacDonald) to illustrate their misguided opinion.
