Another good swerve...Still don't condone what they sang.

I think its has alot to do with the whole thread, Irish/Celtic folk like to cover/excuse what certain words/chants mean.

Always an excuse.

Yawn!! The celtic fans were wrong to abuse british soldiers in the clip!! I said that at the time. I support the Football team so what other peoples views or political views has nothing to do with me! I am sure the Celtic Football Club feel the same. Deegan was having banter with a friend, he said something jokingly to James that offended some he appologised. Why idiots want to transfer that into a rant about bombings in coventry or supporting the IRA is beyond me. He never said that. Over the top a tad. (that is also a joke not a reference to the 1st world war in case, you bring that up too )

Just because Rangers fans are by and large all die hard unionists doesn't make their bigotry any more excusable.

if you think this a joke and good natured banter then crack on.

Each to their own.

No-one claiming the moral high ground but the whole attitude regarding Deegan saying its 'only Up the RA' need to look at the bigger picture.

I for one would love to see Gerry Adams dead as he is a horrible man. I personally wouldn't like to see any British soliders dead.

Does for me, they don't hate British soliders and wish death on them and sing pro IRA songs.

Gerry Adams was/is scum and horrible human. If they sang about him i'd join in.

'I was born, under a Union Jack, a Union Jack
Do you know where hell is?
Hell is in the Falls,
Heaven's in Shankhill and we'll guard those Derry walls

Oh I, was born, under a Union Jack, a Union Union Jack,
Do you know where hell is?
Hell is in the Falls,
Give us Gerry Adams and we'll hang him by the balls'

Classy.

What they sing has much to do with us. IRA bombed this city of ours. They bombed our country on many occassion.

They boo and threat our servicemen at football matches. Scum to the earth and Deegan seems to agree partly when he says up the RA.

If there was no issue, why would it banned in football grounds?

I asked you if it was one way singing or just two groups of mindless idiots singing songs most of them dont understand.

You said in my eyes it is ok for celtic fans to sing about killing british soldiers.

I am asking you where have I said that?

And this highlights the problem. Someone makes a comment and you interpret it in this case incorrectly then start replying as if a person had said something totally different.

Do you know what Deegans opinion or view is on the killings of soldiers or civilians.

No you dont, as I presume you are not a friend of Gary Deegan.

Has he expressed a view of the murders of soldiers and civilians?

No he hasn't

Has he had a bit of banter with a team mate and not considered the impact of the whole world is seeing this banter? Yes he has.

Is his banter in poor taste? yes it is, as admitted by him.

I'm not pro IRA or pro UVF. I'm just anti sectarian and don't support extremists on either side of the divide. Someone kindly shut the thread or move it so we can stop making pissed up Glaswegians look like stunning intellects.

Nobody knows, they're either projecting their own outrage or just guessing. Fisher said it'll be investigated internally, but I'd be amazed if it results in more than a slap on the wrist.

No we would get sued to high heaven for unfair dismisal. That would cost SISU more then the wages they maybe thinking they can save, so no chance.

SISU's Lawyer "Deegan brought the club into disripute "

Deegan's Lawyer "He supports the unity of Ireland, he does not agree with terrorism or violence. Your actions in sacking him have created the false impression that he supports terrorism, 2 million for the damages to his reputation please. Plus, the remainder of his contract please." Deegan gets signing on fee somewhere else.

Well it will on here, the worse we are, the more people post. I can see a bit of a Norwich-Colchester situation on the horizon...but at least Yeovil don't have Clive Platt!

you are just scum, you have no clue about anything.British soliders killed a lot more innocent irish people than the IRA has brits.I do not condone or agree with what the IRA have done but you are just a hate mongering union jack lover. You are equivalent to those gun toting arab hating hicks in america, who can only see their side of the story. England invaded Ireland, the IRB early form of the IRA was the only way of getting our country back http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Rising and as an irishman that is one thing i will always be proud of!

Could always get him done on false presentation:

Sisu'a Lawyer " Deegan told us he was a professional footballer"

Deegan's Lawyer(Sotto voce) " Gary, think you'd better settle, I can't win this case"

Because I don't want to read this shit in a Coventry City forum, it stopped being about anything to do with Coventry ages ago when people were bringing British Soldiers and Gerry Adams into it, if you want to debate stuff like this move it to off topic where I don't have to stumble across it whilst looking for some news of my club,

I frankly find the outcome of this thread "bizarre"

British soliders killed more innocent people then the IRA did over here??? Righto.

The IRA caused terror to this country for over 40 years.

I'm proud of my country and hate ANYONE who thinks is ok to come here and bomb it. If that makes me scum then fine.

The IRA Sinn Fein were scum and if you think I'm scum for thinking that then your just as bad as the bombers.

Kids were killed in plenty of bombs caused by the IRA and your saying our soliders are worse. Behave

Think you've proved with this quote what we all suspect, you're one of those laughable individuals who think singing 'No Surrender' is the pinnacle of patriotism. Take off the blinkers, see the quote for the context it was said in, perhaps read a good book on the history of Anglo-Irish relations and calm the fuck down. A member of my own family was shot dead on his own doorstep by the IRA, admittedly before I was born but which my Mother remembers very well, and she doesn't even come close to the supposed raging indignation you are demonstrating here.

Why is it not ok for Irishmen to hate the idea of people invading their country and murdering people, including children?

Sorry to hear about your family member.

As for the History. What ever happened before I was born is irrevlant to me. Since I've been alive the IRA single handley caused terror to the streets of Britain.

I'm not blinkered I just know during my lifetime more killings have occurred by IRA then any other terror organisation.
