Hope he does well and proves to his doubters and more importantly himself that he can be more than capable at this level. Hopefully TM will be just the right manager to get the best out of my he guy whilst protecting him as best he can
Poor comment and shows a poor understanding of the illness if you don't mind me saying. If it's clinical depression you don't really "get over the worst" and depression isn't "a fragile mind". I'd wager living with depressive thoughts requires a damn sight more mental strength than you seem to imagine.
You're a decent bloke so I'm sure you mean well, just don't like seeing this kind of talk about mental illness. It comes in many forms and effects people in many ways and is often just the price of an intelligent mind, implying that it makes him fragile or in some way unreliable without other evidence isn't right IMO.

Fair comment. Could have worded it better. He says he is in a much better place now. He needs things to go right in life. It will make him stronger. The cause of depression is different in different people. My wife suffered from it before we got together. It was hard at first. I knew her for a few years before we got together. I knew what I was taking on. It was a big help. She has been fine for about the last 20 years. The ones that have it the worst are those that can't do anything about the cause. So they have to live with it.

Fair comments but I think if a thread is up about this people should express their opinion in anyway they seem fit. I jest not when I say I suffered from depression for 13 years and I didn't know I had it. As you say there are many forms of depression but with all the sufferer doesn't need sympathy, they need understanding and support. Saying it would be wromg to keep him is a very sensitive issue and if one wants to pass judgement it is essential one looks at it from both sides. If TM didn't keep him because of this illness is totally up to TM. His decision should be respected because his job is on the line. A manager's position is never secure look at SP who signed a 4 year deal only last year.
The only problem I have with the whole thing is why he needed to 'open-up'? Has he moved on? Of course I wish him and every person and player a good healthy life but we all have problems.

He's opened up because its brave, it changes things and I thank him for it. 'We all have problems' ? How crushingly naive do you sound?

Sorry to nit-pick but a manager is always accountable. However if any player/worker is not performing then a manager would have to take action, irrespective of the cause.
