Really happy for Root. But he does seem to be the only one in the side who knows when to go for shots and when to be sensible.

I don't think anyone is saying to totally abandon bazball but they need to learn there's times when they just need to reign it in a bit and not throw the bat at everything. Too many wickets being thrown away.

Think everyone apart from Stokes/McCullum thinks this. Punish bad balls, don't manufacture against good balls. Make sure positivity isn't accompanied with poor technique.

Another wicket needlessly given away nibbling at a ball coming across the new batsman.

Even in village cricket you play yourself in and get used to the conditions.

This is embarrassing, winning the toss and all out on the first day.

You can stick your fucking Baz ball up your arse!

4 ducks in1 innings

Absolutely farcical
Add in a couple of others throwing their wickets away, should really without too much trouble be looking at another 150+ runs which would take them over 400. That would really give the bowlers something to work with.

Hopefully we've got enough on the board and / or the Aussies bat like us.

The other problem with the way England play is you always leave the opposition plenty of time to bat. There's never a situation where they have to force it because there's a danger time will run out.

That's worked out better than it looked like it was going to thanks to Root and a bit (that's an understatement) of help at the end from Archer.

It's the same old story though, just throwing wickets away with silly decision making.

61 run partnership (so far) for the last wicket has given England a respectable score.
Great performance from Root and Archer.
And a big shout out to Crawley who finally contributed with the bat.

Pressure will be on the English bowlers tomorrow, and I doubt the Australian batsman will be quite so enthusiastic to part company with their wickets.

Australia messing about has actually backfired. That's a huge lastwicket partnership.
Obvious (and smart) conclusion is show Starc more respect and capitalise on the rest.

Good shout that. Smith got a couple of things wrong today.

Helped no doubt by Archer at the end as well.
