EMC, Wright, Sakamoto is our best front 3 imo. Wright has been generally wank whether on left or in the middle recently but at least he's capable of scoring unlike Simms.
I think Frank likes EMC too but people have struggled to accept this for a long time. When he's fit he generally starts.

Wright has been shite since his hat trick against these lot.
EMC huffs and puffs but back from injury.

It was a very tight game of fine margins but both keepers had little to do. We were too safe especially first half. You have to utilise the fiery home support for the first 20 minutes and we didn’t. Lots of side and back passing. Too safe is my only criticism. Yes, a Milan mistake gifted them a 2nd but overall, too safe. It had 2 leg mentality vibes

No need to be dramatic here. Sunderland had a game plan and executed it well. But the idea that winning at Sunderland is some sort of impossible mission . Totally doable. Not saying we will, but we're 2-1 down at half time. Breathe. Long way to go yet.

They’ll have a game plan for Tuesday too that they’ll execute and be enough to see us off. We’ve seen it umpteen times already this season away.

The 2nd goal is what it is. Players make mistakes but time and time again Bobby Thomas thinking he’s prime Beckenbauer absolutely fucks us. A revers pass across his body wrong foot and then rather than staying up with play decided the best option is to jump stop to try and play Isidor offside.

As bad as the 2nd

The best hope is to just launch everything into the box and get Rudoni in there. Not sure why we had him taking corners when he’s a huge aerial threat

I can absolutely assure you that Sunderland AFC will not be over confident next Tuesday.

Do you think we know nothing about football?

Sunderland went to your place with a game plan and they played it almost to perfection. the main question was - could we/Sunderland raise our game after 5 straight defeats - the answer was clearly yes.

I was slightly bemused by Coventry in the first half. Why when CCFC has score 19 goals from headers this season did they play these 40 yard lobbed balls over our central defenders? POMO tells everyone that once you play the ball over about 20 yards the chances of the right players getting the ball is about 5%.

Second half and Lampard corrected that and you started to get the crosses into the box - very dangerous. However when you have 10 men behind the ball it is and it doesn't matter who you are playing - very, very hard to break that defence down.

Sunderland played with 2 up front and on their day they are good pacy strikers.

Le Fee's ball for Isidor was absolutely superb. You will never see a better ball than that. 1 nil to Sunderland. whether it was deserved or not made no difference whatsoever as we did what was on the side of the tin - played on the break. Classic smash and grab.

Didnt take long for CCFC to equalise and it was a classic strike catching us just after we had scored. The header went in like a bullet and it was game on.

We were then under the cosh but defended for our lives and the second goal arrived, taken beautifully by Mayenda. The one think you can say about the lad who made the mistake is that in football he may be down tonight but as sure as eggs are eggs he will be your hero at some point in the future - because what goes around comes around.

Now for the Stadium Of Light.

I've been a football fan coming up 60 years and if I know this tie isn't over then I assume everyone else does as well. Us Sunderland fans will hope that we can pull it off and go to Wembley but that is by no means certain. CCFC score the first goal and its game on and in the preceding 60 years I've seen just about all the weird and wonderful ways there are of winning and losing football matches.

Sunderland's first win at coventry in 40 years - as one or two people guessed - it would have to happen in this type of game.

As Cruyff, the manager would tell you, possession means nothing - goals is what counts. You can talk all day long about who was the better side and who should have won - how lucky the opposition was etc. - and how they are a bunch of pricks - but at the end of the day 90 minutes football tells you who won. You either get all upset about it and make a load of excuses or you get off your arse and go and win the next game.

Coventry lost and you either take the loss with a bit of humility or twist on like a bairn - insulting the opposition and crying on. Nothing big and clever about the latter.

Both teams remain 90 minutes from Wembley.

It'll be some game next Tuesday; in front of what will now be a packed house.

Firstly and above anything else the reason I question you is actually because I respect your opinion over the vast majority even though it might not seem that way ! I don't want you to say anything in particular but I'm very interested to hear what you would do with the players at your disposal.

Not long back. Firstly, I have to say, the atmosphere at times was bouncing, really positive and felt like we could go on and win. Unfortunately, Sunderland played a blinder away performance, sat back deep and defended well, especially Dan Ballard, I thought. So deflating to lose to a completely gifted goal, we have conceded far too many.

That being said, Sunderland do not frighten me, and I doubt they will be "allowed" to play like that at home. I know a lot of Sunderland fans through work etc... and they are a very negative bunch, sometimes understandably so (this season, not so much).

Get a goal early, and the Stadium of Light will become a cauldron of negativity and anxiety. As the old adage football fans bring out in two legged games, it's half time with all to play for. See you on Tuesday, for those going!

I think Simms and asante are neither good enough for where we want to be and its neither here or there who plays if it has to be between the 2

The idea that ellis makes us a better team always amuses me , a good striker scores 20 with the amount of balls we get into the box under frank

But what asante gives us is legs , I would probably have started ellis and got asante on against tired legs

I’ve backed Simms since he’s been here but he’s clearly not going to make it with us. The fact he’s still not scoring with the change to how we play is very concerning.

Its not, its just not sky blue tinted lenses like you have.

We've done well to get where we are, but there are negative sides too coming to fruitition.

We were warned by a Derby fan that a lot of Lampards game is hoping on a bit of magic from individuals to make the difference. Theres a clear pattern of that happening recently. When Rudoni isn't on it, we dont really look great attacking wise.
