Another thread on here where people thought he was keen to go back to Derby? I thought the loan period was up in January anyway?

Before anyone starts on me being negative, I thought him not playing would have an adverse effect on our play - but it seems not.

What did you think of our play without him?

Enjoyed the game and delighted with the win. The back line was excellent, but wow just wow, Dijon Sterling is some player. Kelly was immense too.
Great team goal and great to see Doyle back.

Just a couple of observations from today.
Throw ins are still woeful. Offers us no advantage at all.
Hyam is always first to break the defending offside line. Twice today he broke early allowing two of the oppo to move with him to move into space. We need to watch this.

3 points earned through hard work and creativity where it mattered.

Just shows how fans see games differently. I thought we missed Thomas today, he is a massive outlet for us when we are under pressure. I think we also missed his work rate.
And some of us may complain about a lack of end product, but he scares opposition defences to death. They tend to keep an extra man back to cope with his pace.

From what I heard we still made a reasonable amount of chances. With Hiwula hitting form that is a good sign. I looked at Hiwula's past record and he has, at times, hit a goal ratio of close to 1 in 2 games, which is pretty good.

During our bad spell we had a run of around five games where we seemed to match the other team but struggle to score. We appeared to be making chances but not scoring. I was worried that we would get to January, lose Thomas, who seemed to be a key playmaker, and be not making chances or have a decent goal scorer.
However with kelly back and Hiwula hitting form we have alternatives, fair play to Robins, there appears to be just enough depth in the squad to keep us going.

Are there any other loan contracts up in January? It will be interesting if there is any budget to bolster in Jan as well.

Not read the thread so all this has probably been said already ...... great win. Second half especially good. Hiwula has to play number 9, Stirling brilliant, mason also had a great game. Hyam outstanding. Kelly showing similar form to the end of last season. Getting a bit frustrated with Shipley. Like us using JCH as an impact sub battering ram. Chaplin I still believe in - fingers crossed it’ll click soon. Oh and 442 is the answer!!!!

Did anyone in block 20 see something run over the shoulders of people towards the end of the game, it was moving fast, but I'm sure it was a huge rat. This is not a weird joke, I'm sure there was a rat.

Have to be happy with that result. We were nothing like as fluid as we were against Charlton, but still worth the win, just, imho.

The only thing I don't quite get is swapping the left backs over with twenty or so to go, again. To me that's a waste of a substitution if it's simply like for like, and I think that sooner or later it will come back to bite us. Maybe I'm missing something in fairness.

Also the tippy-tappy throw-ins have to go if they're not working. If all else fails chuck it down the line and look to make ground (aka, Sunday League rules). Getting it back on the volley with fourteen stone of meat and gristle charging at you is beyond the technique of most players at this level, imho.

So, not pretty, but another three points in the bag. Merry Christmas!

I know it sounds weird, but yes, literally running down the stand over shoulders (of people sitting down). Others must have seen it. Surely. Help me out here.

Thanks for confirming there was something, there was a suggestion of it being a squirrel from some around us, but it just looked too big from the quick look I got, but certainly happy to go with a lovely bit of squirrel.

Perhaps Thomas running 20 yards past 5 players only to kick it out of play wasn’t helping us. Who knows.

And maybe Doyle bollocking every misplaced pass wasn't the 'leadership' needed either.

I'm a massive fan of Chaplin and Kelly getting stuck in to their player after he started on Bayliss.

Sort of thing I've wanted to see from our lads all season.

They took their time though. I wanted to see every player in there and at least one push. Let McCallum go in and take the booking.

Chaplin hugging and shaking his hand after ruined it for me.

Watching the replay, bayliss did blow him a kiss so gets an extra point.

What I don't get is why jch never gets in the mix and it was the smallest player on the pitch.
