I would go with Biamou and Ponticelli up front.
Biamou to hold up the ball, win headers, and Ponticelli to buzz around him.
However, I think Robins is stubborn and will persist with the new players he's signed, so I expect Hiwula and Bakayoko to play.
Ponticelli will come on around 75 minutes when we are 2-1 down.

Have you ever seen ponticelli play?

Nick, out of interest, why does it take me to an error / log-in page whenever I click these links? I can't remember my sign-in details, so regardless of the betting, I'm kinda screwed if I ever get logged out!

Hmm a Tricky one - I think maybe tempted to go with a diamond 4-4-2 it will never happen but ideally

Burge GK
Grimmer RB
Brown LB
Willis CB
Davies CB
Ogogo DCM
Andreau ACM
Bayliss RM
Shipley LM
Bakayoko ST
Hiwulu ST

Subs: O'Brien, Sterling, Mason, Doyle, Kelly, Biamou, Ponticelli

Looking at all these systems & players anyone else thinking Robins has made a blunder with his recruitment to fit into a system he’s trying to make work ?

Is there a plan B ?

If you were to collate the player ratings so far this season (I have), and even allowing for some only playing in one game, and literally just chose the 11 players who have received the highest cumulative ratings, regardless of position, the team would be
O'Brien
Willis Davies Hyam Mason
Doyle Bayliss Ogogo
Andreu Bayaoko
Biamou
Lots of 0-0 draws I reckon

I'm going to leave these two here.

The more games played, the more accurate these become.

Lol...so far every single person on thIs thread has a different system, with different combination of strikers players.

Heres my 11

Burge
Grimmer, Willis, Davies, Brown
Bayliss, Ogogu, Doyle
Andreu , Biamou, Ponticelli.

Subs
Lob, Shipley, Hyam, Mason, Kelly, JCH, Hiwula

When a team is playing well, you know your best 11 week in week out. We are million miles from that.

It was pretty obvious in pre-season that we weren't going to start well, it was a total shambles and recruitment has been really poor. We never looked prepared for the season and we're still not prepared now. Major flashbacks to Mowbray's second full season.

No idea what team to play to be honest, it's impossible to fit all of our best players into one team and have it anywhere close to being balanced. This is what happens when you prioritise signing players who are good rather than players to play a system. We're now stuck with an imbalanced squad where we don't really have the players for most formations and we're going to have to figure something out fast. The performances in the last two games have been really, really poor and if we play like that again vs. Plymouth we'll struggle to win.

You know it’s a bad start to the season when you can’t sleep for thinking of the teamsheet on a Wednesday night...

At the moment 4-2-3-1 seems flat and lifeless to me, without two fast wide players. I also really can’t see us using 3-5-2 with marauding wingbacks to any great success either.

Our current available squad arguably suits a narrow diamond - but I think a lot of you will remember how that went when we used that last!

I’d like to see 4-4-1-1 with flexibility over how deep/close in that second striker is. Yes it’s negative and not very pretty but it’s proven isn’t it?

LOB
Grimmer, Davies, Hyam, Mason
Bayliss, Ogogo, Doyle, Shipley
Andreu, Hiwula

I’m thinking get the ball on the deck, and raise the tempo! If we want to dig in and go long ball later on fine, we have Biamou, JCH etc to bring on. But lets force Plymouth to defend!

Don't give a fuck who plays. As long as it's organised and tactically sound, i don't really care....

I don't know enough about these players or their current fitness to pick a team if I'm honest . I'll go for a 12200 crowd though with 1500 away fans

I think the home crowd will drop to about 8000.

I can see him bringing Thomas in on the left rather than the right (which he seems to play) so he can keep Bayliss on the right.

Another signing he’s gonna play out of position if that’s the case Nick he’s a right midfielder/winger...

Yep I know, all his videos show him cutting in from the right.

If he plays him there, what does he do with Bayliss?

On the left maybe ? Bayliss looks like he can play on the left but with sterling right back would you be confident with the new lad infront of him ? Dunno who plays on the left for Plymouth but if their quick and direct could be a problem defensively

Balance seems way off we’re now signing loans as he can see it’s not working, too many changes at once is the problem and the new system seems a bit panicky to me tbh.Im not sure where we go from here do we resort back to a balanced 4-4-2 or stick with & hope it changes and works problem then is fitting in Andreu into a 4-4-2.

I think we can make 4231 work with Thomas in if we must.

Burge
Grimmer Willis Davies Brown
Ogogo Kelly
Bayliss Andreu Thomas
Hiwula

Stick Biamou and Bakayoko on the bench if we need to change things up and go 442

The problem with that side is there is no one in the front four that can win a header and with Thomas being 5ft 7in we are an even smaller side than before. We've spent years being bullied in the lower leagues and it doesn't look like we've learned our lesson.

Who bullied or won headers out of our front 4 of Armstrong, Maddison, Murphy and Kent? We got our best L1 finish with them.

If they're good enough they'll play through the bullies.

I do feel like MR is windmilling with his signings. As pointed out, It’s an unbalanced squad whichever formation he plays with too many players playing out of position.

Needs to bring players in to suit a system and style of play. We knew it last year. This year we don’t....yet.

Sean dyche at Burnley is a great example for me on bringing players in to suit their style of play and formation and not just “names”.

On the Tapatalk point (and sorry for asking this in a match thread) is there anyway that when you're looking at a thread that it can automatically load new posts? For example, if I'm reading a thread and I get to the bottom and say it's post #100, I have to go back to the top of the thread and then press >> to get back to the new posts at the bottom? #firstworldproblems

Revert to 4-4-2 and the spine of the team from last season. We need a bit of stability and grind out some results.

A lot of doom and gloom on here. Yes not a fantastic start but if we win our next two games we go in the playoffs. I know it’s an if but we’ve only played two games in the league. It’s not a disaster some make out it is.

Tomorrow is a big game I agree. We will win.
