We can’t go on losing forever. Surprise 1-0 victory and hopefully a decent display.

Not sure what needs to be done to be honest but something has to be done, yesterday apart from Davies it was our strongest squad so it will be a case of juggling what we have, Thomas had a poor game but has to play, Chaplin and JCH just doesn’t work we have Hiwula but Robins won’t play him out and out striker. I suppose he could give Allassini a run looked lively for his ten minute run out yesterday might give us a different option but to me and against a decent Charlton team I fear the worse.

Time was dragging by that point it was a few minutes, Shipley too, just what Robins thought would be achieved in that time is a mystery and you are correct Grendel Allassini probably isn’t ready yet but who else is there ?

We will win , keep the faith. Perfect game to start a 3 game winning Xmas/new year run.

Very scrappy game, tight as usual at thericoh, we finally manage to score from a one vs one vs keeper.

We were 17th/18th last time we played them.

14000, 1 nil cov.

Charlton have the best forward line I've seen this season. Another tough game.

Yeah that's the thing. Both quick and powerful.

If we want to sit and invite pressure all game it could get messy.

Do what Soljksaer did yesterday, take the shackles off and go for it.
Hiwula and Chaplin up top

Could this work ? Grimmer in at right back, Sterling pushed forward into right midfield a position I think he could end up in, the rest of midfield being Kelly, Ogogo with Thomas on the left and a front two of Chaplin and Hiwula got to try something different, the line-up yesterday will win f/a.

Hopeful to sneak a 1.0 win but can't see where our goals are coming from... fingers crossed for a lucky set piece or peno...

Don't know if I've missed it but anyone know how long Doyle is out for?

I like that. A lot of pace. However we need an on form Bayliss in there too, to thread the ball through to them.

No point if we just hoof it.

Actually I forgot Bayliss would only put him in for Ogogo though but is he playing well enough to be one of the centre two midfielders ?

Not sure who we will have fit will Doyle or Davies be available?

Assuming they are both available would go with the following.

Burge. Gk
Sterling. RB
Brown. LB
Davies. CB
Willis. CB
Kelly. CM
Doyle. CM
Thomas. RW
Chaplin. LW
JCH. ST
Hiwula. ST

I think Chaplin good going down the side and can deliver good balls in like he did at Charlton.

Subs: Lob, grimmer, hyam, ogogo, Bayliss, Shipley, Allesani

If Chaplin is to be delivering balls into the box, we need Chaplin in the box to get on the end of Chaplin's crosses.

Robins, still pissed form Xmas Day, decides to play everyone in the right position and we win!

I think our best hope for this is that Charlton have too much Xmas dinner! Though it's far more likely they'll feast on a load of Sky Blue turkeys and give us a right stuffing.

What would I do? Give Thomas and Allassani a bit of freedom to go forward and alternate and get Chaplin and Hiwula playing to get in behind their defence rather than dropping off. Have them alternating pulling out wide to make space if necessary
_______________Burge
Sterling___Davies*____Willis_____Brown
Thomas___Kelly______Doyle*___Allassani
__________Chaplin____Hiwula

Subs: Addai, Grimmer, Hyam*, Bayliss*, Shipley, JCH

Most importantly, if this wasn't working I'd be looking to make changes early if it wasn't working.

What will MR do? Probably keep in JCH and Bayliss out wide unless Doyle is still injured.

Keep it tight first half, then not do anything inspiring at HT and give Charlton all the attacking initiative and impetus for the whole second half. Then make a late like-for-like change in a non-attacking position.

Let's just offer them a 1-0 win without playing and hope we can stay up on goal difference,

We haven't got anybody to come off the bench and go at them to save us

Whilst I agree with some above, we can't keep losing ... so will fluke a win soon ... whether deserved or undeserved ... it won't be this game, Charlton are on good form, in form strikers, high up in the league, fear another 2 v 1 or 3 v 1 defeat ... but perhaps get something from our next game after that ... I hope ! ! !

That's a worry alright we have no game changers on the bench but then again if there was they would probably only come on in the 90th minute anyway

That's some insight! Did you find MR's tactics laptop abandoned on a train?

--------------Burge------------
Grimmer--Willis--Hyam--Brown
Thomas--Ogogo--Kelly--Shipley
---------Hiwula----JCH--------

Left hand side side is a huge issue, Hiwula has tried and failed, Allasani I’ve question marks over the defensive aspects of the job the same as Hiwula, so Shipley gets the narrow vote over asking Thomas to switch sides as that didn’t seem to favour him Saturday.

Chaplin, Bayliss on the bench.

Quite possibly the way confidence is and balance of the squad sits. Interested to see your alternative tho?
