Hey guys, this show was on last night at 6PM. Managed to clip it and can share it without having to use the BBC Sounds stuff.

Here it is.

Pretty tearful listening to that remembering many long phone conversations with many of the key players

Doug talks so well and is such a great leader and decision maker
Gives out praise to all those around him and identifies the skills needed that he doesn’t have
Totally won me over

Fearful of the lack of a board and how much is down to one person but interested how he’ll sort rather than scared he won’t

Key things
1 Doug admits Robins and Boddy saved the club and he would not have bought in if we weren’t at that level
2 He said we would give it a go in the premier league but he would need help ( investment ) as he couldn’t do it alone
3 said he is warming the council up on infrastructure due to the massive benefits it would bring to the city

Do we own the CBS lock stock and barrel or have CCC still got the FREEHOLD?

It’s a 239 year lease or something. Was 250 when Wasps extended in 2014 not sure if it’s been extended again. In reality the only difference would be if we tried to knock it down and build some houses or whatever they’d probably be able to stop us under the terms of the lease. Otherwise it’s effectively ours, it’s not like we have to ask if we want to build or whatever.

CCC own the freehold but the I think lease still has about 240 years to run so unless the club disappears in a puff of smoke I think it's largely irrelevant.

Frasers Group takes over lease of Coventry FC’s home ground CBS Arena

The sportswear tycoon’s retail group secured the lease after the appointment of administrators.

I’d assume yes because you’re adding another few thousand to the infrastructure around.

Point 2 for me reinforces my belief that king isn’t going to be here for long,

it’s get in get out with as much money as he can - can’t fault him, he doesn’t have the capital to maintain a prem side. So why stick around for the stress

He’s enjoying it because it’s all going swimmingly.

Regardless of being realistic or not, there’s gonna be a section of fans who will be raging and booing if we’re bottom next season and not winning every other week

he wasn’t keen on the flack over the robins sacking.

Don’t get me wrong I agree with you, one thing king deserves credit for - he fronts up to his decisions

But at times he did get touchy. I think he’s great. He’s the final piece of the puzzle. But I think he’s a smart man, he didn’t come from football - he’s in it to make money. The club is worth double maybe triple what it was worth when he took over. If he goes to the premier league it’s a whole different ball game. There can’t be many non billionaire owners left at that level

Think anyone who understands the impact of football, particularly having in a Premier League club in our city, makes the actions of Coventry Council over the years really reprehensible. Even taking into account SISU's stances, the Wasps debacle should not be forgotten. This from people who claimed to be City fans. I am taking individuals, not party political policies.
Sure they will take all the plaudits if we get to the Prem and can stay there.

Haven’t listened to it yet but saw a clip of Lorna Bailey interviewing him so I assume it’s her and/or Gurney who has put it together?
Could have easily turned his nose up at it after the way they marched into the press room with their pitchforks after the Robins dismissal.

Thats true, but plenty of those billionaire owners make some horrific decisions.

Perhaps a very clever, but poor (compared to those) owner can outsmart them? I think from that angle he would absolutely relish the challenge.
Imagine being a Warwickshire businessman worth about £30m effectively taking on the Saudi state. I think he would love to test himself with that

But he’s got to put his money where his mouth is - ultimately for no thanks.

Sunderland spent £160m, if he’s having a crack - he’s got to find the money from somewhere. It’s not a case of spending the 100m we get straight away. That’s covering the wage bill that will rocket to a minimum 60-75m - you’re talking 200m outlay.

if he doesn’t - the fans are gonna complain (rightly or wrongly) - I don’t think he has that ego. He’s a smart man our Doug, now he has the arena, we’re a complete package

I forgot about Onye Igwe. I always remember that story about him in a board meeting where they were trying to figure out how to pay the clubs bills (this was just around the time that Sisu turned off the cash supply)
Apparently everyone was really stressed, and he decided to bring up in the meeting that he thought Sky Blue Sam was a bad role model for kids as he's obese. Ray Ranson, with his head in his hands just replied "Onye, its a fucking elephant"

Think I've got PTSD listening to some of the people involved in the whole mess pop up on this.

Not far off a miracle we still exist the number of people who seemed intent on harming the club with their own agendas.

The council got too the stage where they would do anything to stop SISU and get one up on them. We were the collateral damage. I'm sure there were council members at the time who think they won.

Opinions became entrenched and from that point on it was just about beating the opponent.
In 2011 the council were correct that Sisu shouldn’t own the arena. At that point Sisu were showing themselves to be unfit to run any business.
The problem is the council then decided to “beat” Sisu by destroying the club’s chances to ever own the arena. They were treating the club and Sisu as the same thing
