Very frustrating game that.

Unfortunately I think the subs knocked us back a bit. BTA was much less effective than Eccles and Simms didn't seem to touch the ball for about 15 minutes.
You say that about Simms, but Wright only touched the ball 11 times in 63 mins. Simms had 6 touches in 28. We just didn't get the ball to them into the them to enough.

Even without Scienza, Soton looked good on the break. We lost the midfield battle today.

Given how poorly we managed their shithousery, how timid the ref was, and how we were playing with what I would currently call our 3rd and 4th choice CBs, it’s a sign of how good we are overall that we still created so many good chances and probably should have got at least a point.

If you told me Eckhart was responsible for a horrible crime I wouldn’t be at all surprised. Dead behind the eyes. Cold. Odd.

I'm not that disheartened really.

Southampton came to play the worst cheating diving game and should have had a couple of sending offs, one of them very early on. The ref let them do what they wanted and punished us for minor stuff.

Even then a draw was the worst the result should have been with our chances.

Not sure we just had no tempo and when that’s the case you need to defend well and pick up a set piece goal

Frustrating game, overall we were the better team but you can’t allow yourself to go 2-0 down. Our luck on penalties is finally starting to even out because it shouldn’t have been given.

Bristol’s equaliser definitely softens the blow and perhaps was better to an equaliser of our own in terms of keeping the gap.

Teams literally have to get 3 wins more than us for the rest of the year.

We have Sheff W and no 6 pointers.

The 3 chasers all have to play each other.

Theres a reason Opta have us 99% likely to go up.
I didn’t have us down to lose any of the home games, but I also had us down to lose at Sheff Utd and drop points against PNE.

On another day we score first today and go on to bag a result. I expect Lampard will see it similarly-two lapses in concentration at the back while their keeper has put in a MOTM performance. That isn’t going to happen too often.

Never had this down as a game I expected much from thats why the win against Preston was so important. We are largely playing pretty unimpressive teams bar Hull from this point but it won't be the last time we lose so everyone needs to chill

Some of the decision-making from the ref was baffling. Letting two clear dangerous tackles go without a booking.

one of the players involved then must have been on about 6 for totting up and no booking.

Not booking for the clear simulation of a face injury

We didn't play great and to be fair Southampton started very well, took us a good while to get a foot hold in the game and I think we deserved at least a draw in the end.
Got to be realistic after a very good winning run, only two home losses this season both to teams that were in the premier League last season and both Ipswich and Southampton have players that would easily get in our team... still top and Boro keep fucking up.

I’m not normally one for this but today the referee was appalling, and definitely had a big hand in us losing that game

both goal scorers should’ve been sent off, countless fouls missed and ridiculous decisions across the pitch

fair play to So’ton and their keeper in particular who was immense, but definitely didn’t deserve all three points

Disagree, Swansea look very decent. I back us to beat Sheff W/Pompey/Blackburn, just need probably one more win on top of that.

In what version of the rules is standing on an opponents ankle in the box and him being forced to the floor not a penalty? Was this your first game? You should let the club know, they’ll send you a commemorative postcard.

Im not bedwetting off the back of this. Was our toughest remaining fixture, theyre on a roll, there is always a team that comes from nowhere and gets top 6, this years its them. Playing our 2 worst centre halves aswell

Imperative we dont lose Saturday however, looks like we wont have Haji, Thomas or Rudi. Shithouse it whatever way we can and hopefully have all 3 back for after the break
