Personally think we, Robins included, talks about ‘rest’ far too often. I get it, the schedule is tough and we’ve had a few injuries. But it’s tough for every team. Get on with it.

Preston did tonight.

Think our first XI probably better than those, squad not. We don't have the depth to cover injuries.

I’m sick of hearing about it to be honest - I do not doubt it’s a hectic schedule but you’d think we were the only side to play a Saturday/Tuesday

It is a hindrance that is not exclusive to us but the way MR goes on about it you’d think it is

Hull are pursuing a shit or bust strategy. They don’t own many of the players and if they don’t go up this season then they will be back to square 1 come the summer.

By contrast we own almost all of our players …..we will add EMC in the summer and Robins expects significant other business too.

I know which strategy sounds the most likely to be successful and sustainable.

Hull might pull it off and if they do then fair play but it’s far from certain.

Next two go one of two ways don’t they? Fuck up against Maidstone then hammered by West Brom and cry into our beer until May or grow some balls and win the both. No in-between. Been here before thinking the group look spineless and shit and we’ve turned it around.

With a fully fit squad we go to WBA with a good chance of nicking a win.

As it is - can't see anything else other than the inevitable.

We should still put maidstone to the pork sword, providing we don't have a completely wild team selection.

Id stick the same team that started today out bar Saka obviously. Then keep anyone who doesn’t cover themselves in shit vs Maidstone. Rest my arse. They should be hurting and wanting ti get out there and put it right.

Wouldn't say it would be rest, more protecting players from the chance of more injuries.
Got a feeling he'll play Collins, not with a view to him playing Cup games, but to give him a game prior to WBA.
Think he'll play Dasilva and we won't see him Vs WBA. Keeps Bidwell fresh.
He'll play Godden, who was shite when he came on.
Midfield - not much choice - but I'd expect to see Kelly (and Torp kept away from side)

Why is it not? Explain please? Because we lost today? Are you stupid or something and just write for sake of it? Ask yourself the question and you might come up with a better reply!!!!
we are stronger than last year so there’s your only hint

There's no way we are winning at West Brom with no Sheaf and Sakamoto.
We'll beat Maidstone, but there will be changes made and those changes will be with West Brom in mind - there will be no continuity going into that game and we'll get beaten there.

All I’d say is last two years Jan permanent deals - Torp and Mason Clark v Sean Maguire

We obviously wanted Mason Clark in straight away but they wouldn’t let him go so you either go for second choice or third choice or go for the player you thinks best and wait. It’s like all those moaning about not getting a hamer replacement in straight away but we sat tight and got Torp at the end of his season and he looks a player

Managers always want a couple more players and I’m surprised we maybe didn’t get a couple of loans but January’s generally a hard window and who knows who we tried to sign…I’d be shocked if we didnt make other attempts. To have both sheaf and Allen out and then torp to pick up an injury is just unlucky. Looks like Torp will be fine for next week though

Exactly. We go again…..
Singers corner got us up to where we are and now over the seasons but they need to stop moaning about other support around stadium. They were a disgrace today and last few games too. Why have they gone so quiet? Me and my 2 boys sing our hearts out in family zone no matter what the score. If 30 secs of football defines our home support then give up seats for true fans. Rant over.

The corner was trying for 15 minutes to get Twist and Shout going. Clearly not the issue.

@GIMOC

Who decides the strategy of spending big money on players but not strengthening the numbers?

We've spent £6m on two players this window. He's bought an entire squad with less before.

Yeah, mostly loans. That's what I mean, couple of decent loans in we'd have been in a much better place.

Hull will quite possibly get a go in the play offs. We won’t and have to replace O’Hare in the summer whilst also still needing to strengthen elsewhere even after spending an obscene amount for this club.

Loans help you get over the line. Might even have avoided needing to play Sakamoto tonight

Just got home not read the thread so if any of this has been said I apologise….
very poor tonight, last time we were that bad was Stoke last season. What happened after?
First goal, what were we doing.? Nobody up the field waiting for the ball to come allowing them to press the defence at will, corner knocked out why did the defence not push up? Tactically inept.
Second third goals very direct something we just don’t do.?
First half I thought Simms was the only person that had a decent half.
second half Palmer.
lets hope that was the low point but worse than the result was the tats injury. Not read anything yet but hope it is no where as bad as it looked.

Because we were using loans to form a good chunk of the squad last season as opposed to supplementing the core first team.

Tats didn’t pick up an injury through fatigue. He was picked because he’s one of our best players. If we had bought a loan in Tats would still have played.

I too would have loved a couple more additions but I don’t buy the whole lack of squad depth bullshit. We have much greater depth this year than last and we still made the play off final.

what we did have last season was a really settled back 3 for the final run in and Robins needs to choose his best back 4 and let them find some form.

He’s scoring for fun in a team that may well win the Portuguese league and go far into the Europa League too. Very surprised if he’s still there next season

Robins said this was worse than Stoke.
More or less said that we could bounce back last year because we were good defensively. He's basically written off our defense with that statement.

I agree with the last part . Our best CB pairing is Thomas and Kitching and our best keeper is Collins .

We don’t have depth out wide, this is why Tavares had to start last week and why we have similar issues on the left if Wright doesn’t play there.

Which comes down to us spending heavily on the assumption of 5-3-2 which is just a spent force of a system.

King model is based on investment for greater return. Young player’s who have potential to be sold on for profit. which is great when it works. however for every Torp you have a simms. for every EMC you could have a wright. it’s a risky business when squad is stretched and young players confidence is impacted.

2 key points for me. 1. Robins is frustrated with the squad. changing the team doesn’t help his cause. no fluidity in the team when that happens. ohare since dropped, has looked off it. Thomas looks lost since being dropped. we looked our best when we had a constant 11

2 and most importantly. with a young team comes performances like tonight and the past few games. how they react is big indicator if a player makes it to the top. next 4-5 games will show what character this new group of players have
