14 games to go after this one. Have we really lost the chance of autos? Not fucking likely, Boro certainly won’t win every game til the end, so stop bigging the fuckers up so much, they’ve only been top for a week
To be fair people said it wasn't likely they would catch us either

I work with an ardent Boro fan. He says the difference between Hellberg and Carrick is chalk and cheese. Carrick has one style of play and no plan B (ring any bells?), whereas Hellberg will be prepared to change his whole system when he sees it needs to be changed.
Not hopeful for tonight just hope we put in a performance.
Would be nice to sing "top of the league, you're having a laugh" when we are 3 up.

Fed up of hearing about Kim Hellberg everywhere

I’m sure he’s a very good manager but let’s stop the media love in tonight

Sounds nice! Our manager seems to fall into the former. Lets hope he has a trick up his sleeve today.

We have had the same convo on another thread and you rubbished me for it and I stand by it, maybe I am focusing on the echo chamber of social media too much, but most Championship fans will be wanting us to lose this tonight - A lot of people are taking great delight in our collapse
Why should we care what they think anyway?

From what i see on Twitter/X, firstly, its full of absolute cretins. Secondly those from other clubs that do engage regularly, as well as being stupid generally, seem to judge our whole fan base off of rage bait tweets from the same 5 or so of the absolute worst regular CCFC posters.
I still stand firmly by the fact Birmingham have the largest amount of clueless, deluded fuckwits quite comfortably mind.
It’s mostly MSM that are stirring the shit, they have fuck all else to do apart from the usual ‘biggest points margin or most goals scored’. Most sensible fans realised it probably wouldn’t go so simply for us. We just need to get scoring again and be more resilient in midfield

And start defending better.

Mostly the press, and some strange ones on here, lots thought it wasn’t sustainable cos it’s Cov, init?
Most people on here thought we would walk the league, there was talk of us not signing anyone in January unless they were Premier League ready.

Lets not revise history.

Agreed some didn’t want anyone not Prem ready but look who they were, lots thought we needed to strengthen just to stay up at the top

We need to win our next 2 games in my opinion.
Of course mathematically we don't, but I think physcologically we do.

We haven't dropped points in successive home games since the early days of Lampards reign and I think it would be a huge blow to do it now.

As for Saturday, we've got to get our away form back on track or we can forget the autos. Huge week.

I'm more confident about tonight than Saturday.

Agree with all of that apart from I’d take 4 points from next two. Obviously two wins would be massive but realistically with how things have been recently, a win and a draw/draw and a win wouldn’t be bad at all

I really do think Onyeka will be the key tonight. I think he will shield grimes and allow him to dictate which is when our metromome is in full swing. Teams have pressured Grimes of late and he has his back to goal far too often for us to effectively play progressivley. Fingers crossed that ends tonight

This the same Carrick that has changed how his team has set up in different United games?

Fans of all teams do talk shite.

I've got big hopes for Frank, hope I'm not being unrealistic in my expectations.

He is genuinely one of the best players in this league, he's played 75 PL games and is an international for a good team.

He is one of the few players outside of Ipswich that genuinely would be good enough if their team gets promoted.

Has there ever been as much pressure and expectation on a signing as there currently is with Onyeka?
I think given his pedigree and that his attributes are what we severley lack, its not that much pressure.

Exactly don’t think theres any pressure on him, well none more than he’s already used to. he’s going to be huge for us. you can just tell with some players,he’s good and he knows it

However good we play tonight we're hardly going to be prime Barca🤣

There's a mixed feeling amongst us tbh. We're generally confident in our squad's abilities and the methods of Hellball, but we can't predict A) What version of yourselves will turn up and B) What the Hoodoo has in store?

As good as our recent form and performances have been, the mentality that this is Boro who never do things the easy way and are prone to kicking you in the knackers is a bloody hard one to shift.
You have Aidy in the ranks, that is a massive plus I think.

He could probably have a poor game by his standards and we would still be calling him the Meriden Makelele

Which is all nice when you're winning. The minute that stops happening then it's ''the bloke needs to stick with a plan'' and ''he doesn't know his best formation''

All of our older players know Aidy's ideas off by heart and that should help some of their decision making on the park as well.

If Onyeka doesn't start tonight, Doug will surely be asking why he is shelling out £25k a week for him. Lets be honest, Obikwu was sold to fund the wages
