I’m just worried that if we don’t play our best defenders against a team scoring for fun it won’t matter how many great crossfield passes or headers from corners they win.

Understood. I think Kitching and Thomas have played a lot more good games for us than the other two and to say the others are our best defenders is based on a VERY small sample size. Either way, our CBs need to do their f*cking jobs, show some fight and take responsibility. PUSB.

15 games to go and we’re still trying to work out what our best centre half pairing is, can guarantee we‘ll go back to kitching and Thomas, if dropping them has given them the kick up the arse they needed then Lampards a genius, if it goes tits up Monday then they’ll be even more questions asked. Latis looked good, deserves to keep his place,

Latis ceiling as a player is limited - If he is the answer, then promotion is not the question

Id argue that but agree on the final sentence.

And kitching and Thomas are ? how many games has he cost us when he’s played ? Not saying he’s the answer but he’s done a job when asked,

It’s just a meme like Dasilva and Haji Wright at this point. No thought needed beyond “it’s Lats” but the fact is for me he’s done a far better job of the core job of a CB than either of the other two when he’s played. I’m not sure only starting 5 games is his fault. He was injured and of course we’re going to keep the team together after the initial good run. But the run has ended and it’s time to look again. Rudoni is similar he was rightly dropped despite on paper being one of our better players.

A striker going 3 months without a goal is a meme? Get a grip!

...obvious must win. True test of whether Frank is a proper manager able to change the song rather than just a one hit wonder.

If we are going by the Frank Lampard playbook (a short volume), EMC to return. If he doesn't I prefer Yang to Esse on the left. But Esse on the right, Sakamoto was mind-numbingly predictable against Oxford

Gamble on the midfield - Grimes, Frank the tank and Rudoni. Torp over Eccles if Frank does not want to throw the new man in.

It has to be Thomas in defence. Probably Woolfy on the other side.

Simms or Wright? Who cares? It seems to make little difference right now. Frank is predictable. That is the problem, and a bit of a surprise considering he is a clever bloke, but the curve-ball would be to break with his ingrained opinion and play Wright on the left and use EMC as an early sub. But he won't do that because that means showing imagination

we could go into Monday with milwall 3 points behind us, its nice we’ve let everyone catch up and make it interesting but can we stop pissing around now and turn this round, mboro are annoying already, only been top for 4 days,

The point is it doesn’t matter how he plays people have made their mind up. By your own argument Haji was in the team when we were playing well so should stick there :p

It's not the same because we had a striker who was outscoring him.
And I haven't actually said Kitching and Thomas should start, I don't think both of them will.

Having watched the Boro the other night, JDS is going to need some help with Whittaker cutting in from the wing. I’d go with:

Rushworth
MVE Thomas Kitch DaSilva
Onyenka Grimes
Saka (Eccles or Rudi) EMC
Wright

In fairness Thomas and Kitching played together in a team that went 5 games without conceding, so the statement about Lati is not true. He has performed better most recently.

I think it worked when we were aggressively winning the ball high up the pitch and Grimes was on form and we weren’t being broke on every five minutes. That’s what worries me about Monday. Hopefully Onyeka can bring some of that protection back and we can have them for their offensive attributes but I’ve not seen that yet so 🤷🏻‍♂️

spot on,Asante started it from the front, we’ve stopped doing it, simms and wright try but they struggle , battle of the midfields Monday, just wonder if Onyeka starts is it worth giving grimes a rest. Onyeka, torp, rudoni, can afford go a bit more attacking at home, West Brom game then Onyeka grimes rudoni/assante, bit more defensive, played it too safe against Oxford,

I’m really curious how were going to integrate Onyeka.

1st min of mboro v West Brom, looks very familiar, think that might be why we’ll stick with wright, lots of space behind hopefully they do that against us, win the ball back and break quick, hopefully EMC starts, not that ours are much better but their full backs weren’t great,
