I'm astonished at how little we had the ball according to stats. It just didn't seem as one sided at the ground. Maybe it was purely that they were slower in their build up play?

We dominated the first half even though we didn’t have as much of the ball. They had loads of the ball second half and can’t really remember us have a spell of control but we sat in and did the hard stuff/dirty work well

what a *** end to the winning run. to concede those two goals was shambolic and that handball call from the ref lol. his had is behind his body, dont know where else he can move at. if anything its moving away from the ball.
cov hoodoo continues. they have won their cup final when they fail to win away again all season, we will be laughing at them in the middle of the play off pack.

cov were ***, their game plan was try and boot us and play long balls. the got very fortunate to be gifted them goals. we had yet another crap day against them, everything just works out doesn't it. no tactical masterclass, no super football. a big boot forward for the second and first like their other half chances was all down to us trying to force it when playing out. time and a place for that. not early on in this game.

they looked like a bottom 3 side fighting for their lives. trash, no chance they will finish above us come may,
Not a handball 😂 blantant handball

I think Frank deserves some huge credit for last night. He changed his tactics and had us playing long balls in behind their high defence, especially in the second half. Something he wouldn't normally do, but he knew Boro's midfield would be good and press us high. Rushworth drop kicked several long balls down the middle which he doesn't normally do as we normally play out from the back and it worked.
I watched the coverage from Middlesbroughs Comms team replaying the match they thought we out pressed them first half, then they turned the second half, who's that guy Connelly for them good goal but missed all the others, same for whittingham.sorry for the confusion!🫣😂

Thank fuck for that. Now to get a run going.

Where has this team been the last couple of months?
One massive difference was Onyeka. When Middlesbrough started roughing us up he took an early yellow for us to put them in their place. He was all over the pitch giving them a hard time. He's one of them players that didn't stand out like Sakamoto or Wright did but he made us more solid at the back.

Wrights goal may have been route 1 but who gives a fuck it’s exactly what he likes a ball to run onto right in front of him - have seen a US interview from last night - he’s exactly the same as his interviews in UK laid back and a man of few words - score on boy 😉

The lads and lasses in Singers' Corner have demonstrated many times over the years that they're not the brightest, but the "top of the league and you fucked it up" chant surely takes the biscuit? I had to laugh out loud at them.

I hope it was tongue in cheek, but I did cringe when I heard it.....

Have to say Eccles did really well when he came on. Did the right things to keep us on control and breaking up play. Also a great touch to bring the ball down and win the pen.
Eccles is a great impact player. He will always have a huge effect but seems to fade out of games. He can play any part of the match but not the full match for me.

For all their possession Rushworth made three saves, from memory they were all pretty tame efforts. We played them perfectly, they move the ball around nicely but we were solid at the back and never really looked that much in danger.

Of course when they pulled a goal back it may have been a bit different if we hadnt scored again straight after but from the way the night had gone we were always going to have more chances to score.

Boro are a good team, not as great as their fans are making out but will be up there come the end of the season. Theyve had what we had at the start of the season with teams almost in fear of losing before the game has kicked off, we shown last night how to beat them. The end of the season throws some strange results when teams near the bottom are fighting for points, we really could do with Oxford putting in as much effort as they did against us the week before.

That was a funny tongue in cheek chant. I don't think it's them that's not the brightest...

He nearly got caught out as they took a quick throw while he was doing that.
Yeah was going to say, he was giving it the big un and the bloke took the quick throw.

I like the passion, I like the fire but we also have to remember it's 17th Feb and not get carried away with one win. It's clear the last 2 months has played on our minds hugely, and FLs, and the fans.

Also key remembering history repeats itself. Leicester were about 17 points clear in jan a few years ago and nearly blew it completely.

For me the most interesting thing about last night was safety. 2 examples

1) Rushworth nearly fucked up with a heavy touch, we got away with it but the crowd were giving it a huge gasp as grimes, JDs and others continued to panic tippy tappy it and went back to Rushworth, and this is the tweak I think we've made, he just launched the fucker. Eveyrone was panicking, when a mistake has been made just clear your lines and reset. Two weeks ago we'd have continued the philosophy of trying to keep the ball even though we were completely in trouble (think Kitching diving in away at Norwich, making the mistake and blindly charging forward)
2) Simple but we won every single front post cross. Thomas, Lati and instead of trying to be clever just cleared it to allow us to reset. Again, so simple but Bobby won a big header and just headed it out for a throw whereas a week ago he'd have tried to keep it in play and head it into their oncoming midfield.

Just seems to me that they've had a chance to refresh
