The reality is we’re not the best team in the league, we’re the 2nd best.

But we can still win the league on team spirit if we believe. We didn’t today.

100% the wrong game to start brau today

Half of our fans are thick as fuck. It was obvious players were asked not to press the keeper from a standing start. Most of those booing probably disappeared after first or second goals though (good riddance)

Least said about the first half the better, just looked outmanned maybe partly due to Rudi in floating role but they also did a number on us. Second half thought we started really well for 15 mins or so which suggests it’s not just tiredness but tgey deserved the goal albeit lucky with deflection

Just a poor overall performance but they’ve been few and far between this season so not going to knock the players as they’ve all been immense to get us in the position we’re in. I’d be more concerned about the Ipswich players if I was an Ipswich fan as they seem to pick and choose when they turn up and should really be where we are when you consider their squad depth and quality. Over the season they’ve massively underperformed

Onto the next one. Just hope the fanbase keeps the faith and sticks with this team through thick and thin over rest of the season
Absolute stinker of a performance but you're absolutely right re not going too hard on them when you factor in both the brilliant performances and the rolling up of sleeves to get the results when we haven't been so good, thus far.
Massive wake up call though for anybody still debating how we may get on in the Prem or what's needed to make a go of it (if indeed we do go up) - Ipswich were utter dog shite last season and were effectively relegated by January. February at a push.
They've just torn us a new one and we are 'champions elect' among many.
I passionately believe we need to spend a decent wedge in January to guarantee second place - We know we are a thin squad and have been showing signs of fatigue well before this evening.
However, should we go up, I don't want to see a massive overspend to try to stay there.
Enjoy the (financial) rewards of one season and the luxury of parachute payments that follow and mount similar challenges thereafter.
IF we go up this season.

My biggest gripe is why Ipswich gk has yellow top with white numbers, nigh on impossible to see from further than 10 yards away. Also, I do realize it makes zero difference bc it is the gk. Oh, and our players could have passed a bit better, probably would have helped. And, I'm hopeful that's the last time I see a gentleman's shorts pulled down.

Just have a look at the table. Still fucking brilliant. Two winnable games coming up then reinforcements on their way in Jan.

Tonight was disappointing but they are better than us, and so they should be with the money they have spent.

Poor tonight and tbh not sure what we could do to change it. Bidwell for Brau or Simms for Haji wouldn’t have made a difference.

Feel like Eccles needs to come in for Rudi who needs to start earning his starting place even whilst accepting he’s trying to regain fitness.

Asante can’t come back soon enough, I’m rapidly losing patience with Wright and think Simms and BTA work better in a two than Wright.

Great to be where we are and it’s ours to throw away but tonight has been coming. We need fresh legs and no way this team survives in the top flight.
We struggled tonight against a poor prem team just think what would happen against a good one

Tough watch that but hats off to Ipswich who were better in every department bar the keeper. They nullified everything we had and were tactically spot on. I thought the way things were going that one goal would win it and they got an air of fortune with the first and created a decent second. I wouldn’t say they wanted it more but it appeared that they had an extra 2 men on the field at times and every second ball fell to a red shirt.
I think the towel was thrown in with the substitutions with one eye on Thursday also when Eccles and Allen came on-they then brought on Philogene and there is the difference between the 2 squads.
The key is now how we react against Charlton-if we get a decent performance and at least a point we can quickly put this to bed. Thankfully we don’t have to play Ipswich again.

Poor effort from the fans leaving after their 2nd moaning and shouting abuse, those fans are going to need a massive shift in mind set to support the team if we did manage to go up……as losing most weeks in the prem will require a different kind of support
Not me, pal... If we're not top 4 in the Prem by Xmas I'll be setting myself on fire & invading the pitch.

100% the wrong game to start brau today

The fact that Bidwell didn't come on even when Brau was not playing well and has barely had a kick for 3 months so probably not fully match fit made me think Bidwell was carrying a knock or maybe the latest one to be under the weather.

Not much tactical analysis to be done on the game. Looked like a game too many for our starters in this run in, combined with illness and injuries.

Ipswich can make 5 subs every game and bring real quality on, we have to run our starters into the ground. Only positive is it’s a clear as day reminder we urgently need depth.

Unbelievable that we’re still 8 clear at top and 10 ahead of third as well as the massive goal difference buffer. Thats what fans should be focussing on….well that and booing us not pressing the keeper obviously (clowns). We’ve massively over performed so far this season. If we can keep the confidence up pretty sure we’ll start getting the rub of the green again soon and get back on track.

Take the hit and move on - They were tactically better but no surprise - bidders saved for Charlton and Frank said that he hoped Bobby would be back for Charlton as well - at some point we would lose at home - maybe doesn’t feel so Bad against a better organised team - McKenna no fool

This was so annoying. Crowd let themselves down
I politely tried to explain to the bloke behind me that we were actually containing their potential endeavour by not committing a full press.
He looked at me gone out which briefly led to me thinking I was the one mixing up my arse and elbow.
So, just for confirmation, it is your elbow that causes a higher degree of pain when you bang it on a door frame isn't it?

Simms isnt being played. HTF do you blame him?
Im not blaming him, im saying in the brief time he had (15 mins) he looked no better than Wright.
Replacing one out of form striker with another isntbthe answer.
We need to address the striker issue asap.
BTA will obviously help when hes back, but we also need another CF.

Can't be bothered to read through the thread to be honest.

The sensible take from all this though is, we were very poor first half, but second half, much, much better and we were beginning to dominate the game.

One very unlucky deflection later and it turned the whole game back round again and we looked lost.

These things happen. We corrected what was wrong at half time and looked like the team who were going to score next

That Clarke goal really looped into the net. Not a lot you can do about that.

Now we have to just get back on track again against Charlton. Win there and we are into the January transfer window.

Keep the faith.
Disagree on the first goal. All Wright has to do is move towards the ball and that doesn’t happen

We don't need 4 strikers when we play 1 up top .
Squad is tired and flat after recent illness in the camp and injuries/suspensions.
We need 2-3 in the door in January

Everybody does - Need a goalscorer. But realistically only three of the top four (Ipswich won't be pitching in good money) will be serious about making a financial commitment to secure one.
We need to be top dog in getting 'the one' in January because BTA aside, our striking options are dog poo.

Thought the team selection tonight didn't match the tactics.
For me, Wright and Brau definitely shouldn't have started. Would it have made a difference? Probably not, that was comfortably the best opposition performance I've seen this season.

10 points, (11 with GD), clear going into the new year, I'd have given a kidney for that at the start of the season.

In fairness to Wright and Simms the service they got was appalling. In theory we had two wingers out there, who provided nothing. In comparison despite all Ipswich possession, their best moments came down our left from a natural winger, Jack Clarke.

We did get a lot of crosses into the box but they dealt with them very comfortably.

It's for that reason I think Simms should have started but there's no guarantee he'd have fared any better.

The majority of our crosses hit the first man or were too high and floaty .
We've lost our snap and fizz we had a few games back

As good as we’ve been playing 433 some games you just have to set up better, after 20 mins it wasnt working and you knew they were going to score and as much as I hate digging out players, their first goal was haji not being arsed, on the plus side their the best team in the league and were the 2nd best, but that’s the minimum we”ll be up against next season if we go up, miles away

I still can't get my head round that dirty git, Furlong. He should've been taken out!
