Midfield the issue tonight, they dominated it all night.

Both Torp and Rudoni had their worst games of the season and the wingers didnt have great games either.

They were much better than us on the ball for 90 mins we would have been lucky to scrape a draw!

Rudoni has been poor for weeks he should have never started

Yeah I think tonight has just slightly broken the illusion of Rudoni. He’s a great player, but he’s not undroppable. He’s has to provide himself as far as I’m concerned and get back to basics.

He's really not a great player. Especially not the last few games.

Really it’s easy to blame the strikers but theyve only had drabs to deal with recently.

Midfield needs more legs and Eccles provides that he’s good at initiating the press

Torp has still been good recently was very good on Boxing Day

Beaten by the better side. Take it on the chin and move on.

Most disappointing thing for me was the failure to win a 50/50 or second ball all night. Thought we turn up tonight but we were so passive. Chance to put it to bed in a few days though. Win there and put it behind us.

Wright was more interested in trying to run in front of their defender and completely miss headers.

I did as well. He has not looked right since his illness.

Really odd to keep playing him when Eccles is available.

They crowded Grimes out and stepped onto our back 4, so no chance to play out. Without Dasilva, there was no easy and safe pass on. Furlong got stuck in to EMC, who couldn’t hold the ball up.

First half we defended well and won the ball back well numerous times, only to promptly give it back to them in a dangerous position with a bad pass (normally behind the player).

Wright is not lazy, he’s playing against two big centre halves every week who are able to double up on him.

And as lots of others have said, Rudoni is almost never where he should be!

Several odd chances where the ball didn’t fall or the penalty wasn’t given. But it was our panic under pressure and poor passing that lost the game.

Why is Charlton away a hard game? They've won 2 in 5 and they were against Oxford and WBA where they won by a hair

The way I saw it, Furlong and and Ipswich did a job on EMC and that pretty much nullified him

That's fine if that happens, as long as others then step up to the plate. Because Rudoni was quite anonymous again and Saka also didn't make any impact, there's your problem right there.

They kept Mason-Clark quiet, but that freed up space elsewhere and we didn't utilise it, because others were under par

Tactically we were undone big time.

They smothered our back 4 and forced us long (to their massive back 4). And the amount of times they were able to easily pop the ball into the number 10 area and turn on it was silly. First half especially we couldn’t deal with any of it.
Agreed. At the very least, it should have been tactically changed at half time.

I sincerely hope we get reinforcements in Jan. This deck needs more cards to allow for some reshuffling.

Was about to come here and say the same, people give of Haji pelters despite having zero service.

We seems to have reverted back to slow build up & knocked the ball sideways & backwards again. The quick zipped balls & whipped in balls have deserted us for the last month or so & need to find a way back to it.

I can only assume fatigue, sickness & niggles are playing a part, yet we need to find ways of picking up points & changing shape to adapt like others are with us. As others have said we were massively off in numerous areas & just need to get back on it at Charlton and get on front foot.

Boro should be sweating on Ipswich big time. No need for us to be yet, 10 points is huge. Let's see how we bounce back, I said way earlier in the season if we're top 2 in Jan I'll fancy us as I expect us to spend. We're well in the top 2, way above anyone's expectations I'd imagine. Tonight was wank but let's not lose the plot.

Well people are saying its a hard game based on very little. Of course teams can upset the odds. To me it looks a favourable fixture to bounce back with.

It's not hard when you can get away with anything you want and then just roll about and get free kicks every time.

Really poor from us tonight. Wright/Rudoni criminally bad. Sick of Wright to be honest - happily drive him to east London if West Ham want to offer £20-25m.

Haji won nothing and we were second to everything. Great news is we have a chance to put it right in a few days and we’re still 10 points clear of a very hot and cold Ipswich team. Remember when they beat us a few weeks ago and everyone said they were gonna come for us and they then lost to Leicester and drew with Millwall. We’ll be fine.

It's looked likely the last few games tbh. The squad has clearly suffered through illness, that is not an excuse but clear to see. That has unsettled the side. Couple of tough games and a few chances missed when we were scoring them for fun a few games back combine to knock you down a peg or two. Ipswich are not that good at all folks. They were bang average. Their threat was largely lacking and we just made them look good. We were poor on the ball, bad off it. Just not our usual self. Credit to Ipswich they set out their stall, went at us and we fell into disarray without any real spirited comeback. It looked all game we were going to concede. Too many players out that have particular contributions to play. Thomas, Asante, DaSilva have all been missed. Add in Torp clearly playing below fitness, Rudoni at 6's and 7's with our play and not adapting too well. Sakamotto also lacking energy.
We need a reset the next few games and we will be just fine. Losing to your biggest challengers is kinda acceptable. We just have to pick ourselves up and get back to how we play, bring back Thomas and get Milan fit and we will win at Charlton and Birmingham. All will be forgotten. We were just off it tonight and never looked like recovering. It was a free hit, so long as we follow up well.
