For me no, he wasn't offside because the ball was not passed to him, it hit a Preston Defender and deflected into EMC path.

I think he was in an offside position and as the Preston man did not "deliberately" play the ball it was the correct decision - albeit a touch too slow to decision.

By deliberate, the defender has to have control of the ball
