Guess it depends on whether it was the flu or not. If it's this new flu, I wouldn't think he would have a cat in hell's chance of playing.

Really hoping we haven't got any players out through illness.

Yes and all those teams need to come to our place. We’ve only lost 3 games in 27 home games under Lampard.

In fact, all of our ‘6 pointers’ in 2026 will be at home (including Ipswich at home on the 29th). Ipswich, Leicester, Southampton, Boro, Stoke, PNE, Millwall all need to our place.

Can't underestimate how crucial that could be.

3-1 win, but think we're going to see two tired teams out there with the third game this week. Especially on a depleted squad.
Hopefully playing a day earlier than Bristol City in the week will give us an advantage

Exactly, and none of those listed have good away form. Ipswich and Southampton have 12 points away from 9 and 10 games respectively. In short, we’re in a positive place because after the New Year, we’d have got all the toughest away games out of the way so you’d expect our away form to uptick again. We’ve got to repeat what we did last season where we beat all the teams around us at home.

It’s a rare exception when a team averages 2 ppg away from home. The only teams to do it are Burnley (twice), Norwich and Wolves since the dark days of L2.

I should, of course, have added that even then I will probably worry that we will get a points deduction, our ground won't meet the Premier League's requirements or clubs whose name begins with the letter "C" will be banned from being promoted.

EMC was offside. Can’t complain. Officials were decent for once and not to win against 10 men for more than half the match was disappointing.

i think the ref and lino got the big decisions right (the sending off and the offside goal) but at the match i thought preston were allowed to steal about 10 yards for their throw (which led to the equaliser) but bobby thomas was told every time, and i mean every single time, to be exactly where the ref wanted him. if the ref is going to be pedantic about where to take throw in's surely he has to be the same for both teams? Just like DaSilva and Rudoni were not alive to the quick thow and run down the wing equally we needed the ref to be switched on too. it's a bit like the oxford brannagan goal. yes we should have moved the wall when the ball got moved but the ref needs to prevent it happening too.

as well as the throw EMC got penalised right at the end for pretty much nothing when we were in a really great position. eccles get also clattered and injured quite early in the match which looked a yellow. first 20 most of the preston players were just roughing us up with little to no protection from the ref. it's probably just watching the game not as a neutral but whilst the ref and lino were clearly better than recent i still thought they weren't as neutral as they could have been.

That's funny. My mates a Brighton fan and he said the trouble with being in the premiership is you're always rooting for the teams you can't stand

Not for me.
Lino flagged for everything and lots of good interventions and tackles were given to them and ref and Lino couldn’t wait to give it

The lino certainly could and did wait to give the offside for the offside goal. Fortunately I thought it was close and looked over to see the linesman did not run back towards the centre circle so was kind of expecting the flag to eventually go up - my only issue was he could have flagged a bit quicker.

Although, the linesman also didn't rush up the field after the deflected goal so he kind of shat my up with that, as I pondered for a minute what exactly it could be ruled out for..

Anyway, tomorrow, I think it's just a win anyway we can.

Don't get me wrong I would not be suicidal if we didn't, unlike maybe some on here, but it would just be nice to get back to winning ways and this is a very good opportunity to do so.

There’s 6 games before the FA Cup and the 3 ‘bankers’ we should win are Bristol City, Swansea and Charlton. 1-1-1 against Southampton, Ipswich and *shudders* Birmingham is tolerable. 2 wins of that trio would be massive.

It's good to see you're able to put this in to some kind of perspective.

Of course but, after being top for quite a while with a ten point gap, I'm worried that suddenly finding ourselves trailing Middlesborough will cause a loss of confidence and a drop in form that could see us out of the top two. I don't want to see a repeat of what happened under Tony Mowbray.

There’s always a little extra pressure on the leader. It’s relatively comfortable to lurk in the top 4 or 5

Difficult to know who will be available to play, but we really could do with getting a win, no matter how we play, to get back in the winning mindset. Not been too disappointed with the last two performances, just the results.
