Wasn’t there on Sat, but think we need to really avoid playing those not at 100% due to illness or injury etc. Sounds like it backfired a bit with various players not at the races based on what I’ve read. Give McNulty and Bayliss a game off if they need it. Be tempted to try Vincenti in the middle and allow him to break forward like Bayliss does – there’s also not a lot of other options and he’s a bit cumbersome out wide right. The other option is play Shipley central and Reid wide left, which MR would probably more likely do.

Very interesting to see the reaction in this game, need them to stand up and show a bit of fight and resilience after last 2 games. Draw would be a good result, stop the rot and let us rebuild a bit.

LOB

DKE (if fully fit, Robins said he was rushed back from injury) / Willis
Willis / Hyam
McDonald
Stokes

JMD
Vincenti
Kelly
Shipley

Biamou
JCH

Subs: Burge, Haynes, DKE/Hyam, Bayliss, Barrett, Beavon, Reid

Bloody hell, you have a right side of DKE and JMD, two of the very worst players on Saturday. We will get hammered down that flank. Maguire-Drew offers zero defensive cover and Dion had a mare on Saturday and if he was rushed in too soon after injury you would have to assume that it did him little good coming back in so quick and if so, why on earth would we suddenly think he's ready 3 days later?

Really do not like the look of that lineup one bit.

No one knows who will be available due to the illness/injury crisis, but at a guess I would go something like this:

Burge
Willis
Hyam
McDonald
Stokes
Bayliss
Kelly
Vincenti
Reid
Clarke Harris
McNulty

That team can win the game.

I like that team a lot and I think it is quite ingenious to double up on the Bayliss's.

That truly is a dream team.

Who would you stick at RM instead? Confess I've not really seen JMD play much so you are probably better placed to opine. Would play Willis at RB and leave Dion out, like McNulty and Bayliss, if he is struggling.

It will probably go against popular opinion, but I wouldn't mind seeing a system change rather than a personnel change. As Nick has mentioned many times, our strikers aren't getting anything to work with. Unless Bayliss bursts from midfield, the gap between our midfield and strike force is huge. I therefore would like to see a slight change in formation to 4-2-3-1.
Burge
Willis MacDonald Stokes Haynes
Kelly Shipley
Bayliss Barrett Reid
Clark-Harris
Barrett has looked unfit and lacking in pace but in my opinion, does look like there is a player in there. Would like to see him tried as a number 10 before being completely binned off. I know Shipley hasnt really played a central holding before, but he looks to have the tenacity and energy to sit alongside Kelly and make bursts forward whilst Kelly holds fort. Reid offering pace and width, whilst link up between the two holding and Barrett/Bayliss might help create more. I'm resting McNulty purely to recover from illness.

Would play Vincenti there. Not ideal for sure, but much more preferable to the very lightweight Maguire-Drew who has offered pretty much zero so far.

I would like to know if Hyam can play right back. Would prefer to leave Willis where he is.

Think Doyle might be out tomorrow too, he's at Liam Miller's funeral today

I'd probably let him rest for Brighton as well.

If anything I would think this could fire him up to play tomorrow. Doyle is that kind of person.

Hyam in. Willis rt back. Reid on left for Shipley. Depending on baylis’ fitness him or vincenti playing in front of Kelly. And vincenti (if Baylis fit) on right or possibly Barrett. JCH and biamou up front with ponticelli playing last 30 when one of the tires. Rest mcnulty for the next couple games...cup doesn’t really matter...make sure he is fit for run in.

Not very confident about tomorrow whatsoever. We badly need a win as well.

Anyone else noticed we don’t draw many games? So I go draw. 0-0

1-1 Reid & Stevenson. Unless it's cold and raining in which case Stevenson's dad might not let him out to play.

Definitely play Willis at RB and bring Hyam in, DKE has had his chance and not taken it.

Burge - id play him half fit over Obrian
Kelly - RB, Willis , Rod , Stokes
Vincenti, Bayliss , Shipley
McNulty , JCH
........Biamou

play 4, 3, 2 1

I think the shackles need to be released and we need to play 4,3,3 or 4,3,2,1

We need to go all out attack. DKE is not the answer at right back and neither is Willis.

We will find a way to win! 3-1. Bayliss, Shipley, Biamou.

I do think Robins is going to have to start taking risks and trying to go at teams rather than sitting back, it will get to the point where draws aren't good enough and we need wins.

Yep. We are in risk taking territory. Would be great if he sprung a surprise tomorrow and put Colchester immediately on the back foot with an unexpected lineup or tactical change.

I think that is a half decent team capable of getting a result. My concern would be McNulty: he has clearly suffered as a result of that virus, according to Robins... Think I'd gamble and try to start him tomorrow if there is any chance he can last an hour, then consider resting him for Saturday

Doyle hurt his knee. Did it blocking a shot edge of area at mk first half after bad stokes header. Played on after treatment then played next couple of games with loads of strapping an obviously made it worse.

My team for col Utd

Burge ( assuming he’s back was sub yesterday but didn’t do warm up)
Willis at rb (as Dion is a liability)
Hyam
McDonald
Stokes
Bayliss rm
Kelly
Shipley
Reid
Clarke Harris
McNulty

DKE had a poor game Saturday. He was “rushed back from injury” according to Robins. That is the only bad game I have seen him play and the only time so far his lack of height has been exploited. I think it is really harsh to write him off after one bad game. I’m not saying to play him tomorrow but I wouldn’t show him the exit just yet.

I thought MR said Doyle’s injury would sideline him for a few weeks

He did. Don't think we will see him for 3-4 games at least.

I don’t normally rate Willis at RB but he can’t do any worse than DKE managed on Saturday.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Hyam return to the side. Looked useful early in the season.

Reid to start, JMD to be rested.

Stick with Obrien. Really isn’t much difference between the two keepers at this level but no point in risking further injury to Burge when he kicks one of his kick out of play

Robins is reaping what he's sown now. He's banked on winning games by an odd goal and not been able to rest or change his team in games for experience/ fitness and now it's showing. Half the first choice team is injured or carrying knocks and the replacements are not match sharp because we've never been secure enough to rotate the team. Backed himself into a corner with poor tactical decisions.

Id be tempted to try a 3-5-2 have Biamou as an attacking midfielder sat in behind MM and JCH, hes not afraid to tackle wins most in the air and can play a decent pass and will run for 90mins, plus keeps him out of the firing line for not scoring enough, 3 from Hyam, Stokes, Willis and Mcdonald Cb`s and then Doyle and Bayliss central then fill the gaps wide with two from Shipley Haynes Vicenti Reid (aarrrggghhhh). Just go for it, something different, set out to attack from the off and keep at it, lets be honest whatever Robins trys right now isnt or hasnt been too succesful especially away from home, something different may even work.

Well its obvious to us all.

Hoping the confidence hasnt been hit too badly by last two results. In honesty we havent played well for 2.5 games. If you include 2nd half vs Cambridge.

Am working not far from Colchester today so if get job done in time will go to the game. Low expectations though and might be as much about players being up for it and ready to battle it out than tactical tweaks

I’ve decided to go today (last minute decision)and think we will win. Stick with DKE in 442. Get rid of the Barret and JMD as we’re better without them. Both are worse than what we have already.
