Would be good to know the return it will give to Coventry in general after the Commonwealth games and how it was justified? Especially to take a decent chunk of the funding up too.

Any minutes from the council meeting where it was decided?

Not sure how a roof and some windows will make them any money, let alone the Coventry area!

It might increase the value though....making it easier to re-finance when they then say the Ricoh is now worth £100m

What I'm surprised at is why you guys are surprised. CCC invited Wasps to the Ricoh and part of that agreement would be if Wasps got into financial difficulty. CCC would never let Wasps go under, whereas our City football club can.

And the residents of Coventry let it happen by voting them back in.

we're not the only ones getting stung by wasps

The weirdest bit of that Ricoh sketch is the giant picture of someone dry humping a Spaniel covered in a blanket.

How do we go about putting in a state aid complaint? Let’s avoid the club doing it - can the fans do it?

The get-out clause I imagine is that the council still own the freehold?

Would that even be allowed? Haven't we left the EU now?

minimal coverage in the Telegraph considering how excited they get about anything involving wasps.
I wonder if even they think this is a total piss take?

In which case what do they get from Wasps in return?

I doubt it, we will just get copy and paste spin saying how great it will be. Same as every other time.

They won't do any digging or call the council out.

How did that meeting go?

"Lads, we're losing millions every year, any ideas what we can do"
"Put a roof over the stairs"
"Brilliant, that will do the trick"

Alright, alright...simmer down ffs...

NW and shmmeee (or ‘Team Semantics’) will be along shortly to help you decode everything via a lengthy three page mutual like-fest dialogue regarding how this is actually SISU’s fault.

Asyouwere

"Ask the council for some money, tell them it's for the people of Coventry like we did the training ground and they will lap it up"

I thought the transition only applied to the Customs Union and Single Market.

This seems totally above board.

If the council were willing to help us as they helped the Wasps, perhaps we’d have avoided being in a situation where SISU had to ‘save us’ at the last minute.

So CCC just want to needlessly increase the value of the Ricoh for no reason?

What is in it for the council or the tax payers for them to throw over 50% of the purchase cost on the Ricoh. The leasehold is 250 years.

How will the council see any benefit from it? Are they going to asks Wasps to pay towards it?

If the council really cared about CCFC, they’d held this refurb as a collateral if a deal to keep us at the RICOH couldn’t be agreed.

Why is city propping/protecting up this franchise?

Corrupt.

Yep it’s like our church where there is a responsibility for the building maintenance and the pcc for the ongoing running of the church. If that were so I’d expect some investment from wasps as well as ccc. Huge two fingers to Ccfc though

This is taking the piss now!

Whilst things like the commonwealth games and city of culture should be good for the city; the way the council have behaved towards us and the hypocrisy of funding a venue they have sold a long lease on needs calling out. That glass ain’t going to still be up in 250 years time.

Feel like going proper militant, boycott the events, disrupt them, vote out the councillors.

We’ve been playing too nice

Wonder what sort of funding ccfc will receive for our new stadium.

Is this what Cllr duggins meant by we will adhere to our legal responsibilities. One thing for certain wasps will not be going out of business any time soon. So if all of our tactics are to move back into the Ricoh when wasps go pop we need to think again

CCC are giving wasps money and CCC will be spending money opposing CCFC having a new stadium. One of those teams is an historical institution that carries the city's name and, if it ever achieved PL promotion again, could possibly be the most recognisable thing about the city in the entire world. One is a nomadic team that doesn't carry the city's name has no connection to the city and are from a fringe sport with no wide appeal that are heavily indebted with an unsustainable business model.

Coventry City Council are the worst thing to ever happen to Coventry City Football Club.

Boycott and vote them out by all means but please for the love of all fuck let's not get into disruption as that just plays into the hands of the people who don't want us there as they will use it as an excuse as to why we shouldn't be at the Ricoh.

You can see the headlines now all about thuggish Coventry city fans disrupting things, we are starting to get the message out about the council and wasps so we just need to be patient and let it play out unfortunately

Not advocating whacking tourists but yellow vest pickets and burning tires wouldn’t go amiss.

In all seriousness though I really hope we move on and build a ground. Hate the sight of the Ricoh now
