Was just trying to look something up to confirm if it was in the advice or not, something I saw on twitter. Its not particularly easy to find the guidelines and when you do its not in a clear and simple format. Your average 'man on the street' isn't going to spend 15 mins reading some government document. If you go on the government website there's 8 different sections to read before you get to the latest updates. Go on the NHS site and it gives no indication if its been updated with the latest info or not.It’s nuts. The missus works at the hospital. I came out of isolation the day the advice changed to household isolation for two weeks. She goes into work today and mentions it (she’s had no symptoms), staff start kicking off saying she should isolate. Occ Health say no she’s fine. Then later in the day change their mind and have now sent her home for two weeks. Despite the fact that I’m the one with the symptoms and I’m back at work. And this is the NHS!

IMO you should be able to go on pretty much any doctors, NHS, government (local and national) website and get, or have a obvious link to clear and simple instructions. You have to make it as easy as possible for people.

Agree sick boy/Pete. This is as much down to personal responsibility now. Had a mate ask me if we were still catching up this weekend (he’s got a couple of step kids, if I’ve got, pass to him, pass to them etc etc). People have got to start realise that now the measures have been put in place its time to (try their best to) follow them.
This is going to take a Herculean effort ! I’m self employed and live alone so gonna be a bit weird not seeing mates, family etc but right thing to do at the moment
ps I’m guessing school closures, formal closure of bars etc will be this week

I was talking to someone I know who is a school caretaker yesterday and he has type 2 diabetes and was told by the school he works at that yesterday was his last day for 12 weeks. They’ve basically told him he’s self isolating whether he wants to or not and from what he’s saying with the amount of staff and pupils self isolating each day the school will be closed by the end of the week anyway as there won’t be enough staff available to run a functional school. He also recons it’s a pattern in most schools so basically the government won’t have to make the decision, which is inline with their MO during the last week.ps I’m guessing school closures, formal closure of bars etc will be this week

They still seem bent on keeping schools open. I get that it will have a lower benefit on controlling the disease but I don’t see how we can keep it going with so much absence

Half the kids round here never went to school this morning and that's not an exaggeration, it's more of an understatement.
It's also quite odd as they all went on Monday and Tuesday.
It's the same as buying bog roll.
People will be on Facebook telling each other their kids will die if they go to school.

Could be a shortage of teachers and the kids have been told not to bother coming in?
If we had a local newspaper they could tell us what was happening.
I think the theory, although no politician will want to admit, it is that if you are protecting the vulnerable (particularly the elderly), it is a good thing for the least vulnerable (children) and their parents to become infected as this increases immunity throughout the population and is least likely to require NHS/hospital treatment.
