The first Tory apologist will cite London being a world transport hub ignoring the spread all across the country.

Apparently it’s not going to be back to normal now by Xmas. Another Boris flip flop.

That is all to do with Eid, make no mistake. Hence the very specific advice. Oldham had a spike of cases, the council spokeswoman said 70% of them were Pakistani / Bengali.

Wonder why it hasn't happened in Brum?
Cases already high there and big Muslim population.

The growth in case numbers just might not be the same. There might be more to it than just Eid tbf but that looks on the face of it like the key driver, why not close pubs and restaurants?

I see Leicester is still in lockdown

Yeah to say don't meet other households inside but to then not shut the pubs makes it look like they are deffo targeting the islamic community

This demonstrates it quite well. Look at Burnley, Blackburn, Oldham, Rochdale, Halifax, Dewsbury, Bradford.

Brum has 13 new cases per 100k of population and Oldham has 57 cases per 100k of population.

So per capita Oldham has 5 to 6 times more new cases than Brum

And that is taken from the data up to the 26th which is likely to mostly only be pillar 1 so will not show all the community cases that have been detected.

Was just in a thread of Americans in another forum talking about the election and it’s impact on the virus.

It’s become so politicised over there they’re genuinely worried that if Biden wins the anti-mask anti-lockdown people will go mental. They’re refusing to wear masks when Trump tells them so when it’s a Democrat they’ll go mental.

Talking about half a million deaths potentially when it’s all over.

When did health become something you take sides over?

Bernie is proposing ‘masks for all’ which is meeting the opposition you would expect

Unfortunately that would be pretty logical though. Nearly all localised outbreaks have come from areas of high islamic population, so with Eid happening it has the recipe to be an absolute disaster.

It was 3.5 two weeks ago.

New coronavirus cases rise in Coventry - the rate where you live

The city has seen a rise in new Covid-19 cases, with 42 testing positive in the past week.

Yeah, that's not what I want to see. That being said, Rugby has got itself under control after looking like it had potential to accelerate.

R is still below one though.
Figures from ONS yesterday I think

Not sure about the releasing shielders at this point.
Retrospectively might have been more convincing earlier ?

I checked via the BBC tracker for Cov and in the last recorded week we are increasing but we are on 10 per 100k people which is higher than it was but more of an average for a place like Cov. We did have a strangely low infection rate before.

Tbf he knew there would be spectators before he started qualifying rounds. Argument is that he's effectively taken away the opportunity of someone else.

Pretty sure he was initially under the impression the audience would be wearing masks when it started, and they're not.

Also, he does have to eat and drink and put a roof over his head. He's effectively being asked to choose between that, or his health. That seems very harsh to me.

Haven't heard about the masks. If that's true then yeah, can understand his change of mind.

Fair point, I think he's made 20k by getting to the first round.
Yeah pretty harsh to be criticised for it.

Looks like there won't be spectators now. Johnson has pulled the plug on test events and cancelled plans to ease other restrictions.

Sounds like this is going to be the way of 5hings for the foreseeable.

Imagine this will affect when spectators will be allowed in grounds

Is he allowed to take part after pulling out?

Anyway, after his guff about back to normal by Christmas, I suppose I should be pleased his actions do at least have a brake pedal! That gives me a bit more confidence, at least.

Oh, and face coverings for museums - about time!!!
