You’re right I can’t be arsed that’s why I’m working till 1-2 am each day to make lessons, mark work, run online clubs etc etc

Sick of the lazy teacher trope coming out from those who’ve never done it.

If teaching was half as easy as people make out I’d never have left. The fact it’s got a ridiculous turnover of staff should suggest to even the densest that it’s no easy job.

Education is carrying on in private schools but a lot of staff are furloughed to save overall cost

I’ve said actually schools could start in August rather than Jime. Brighton then moaned august start would mean he has less than 8 weeks holiday

State schools are 6 weeks at Summer.

You have got what you were after-a bite

I have got what I was after-a vent

Though yes funnily enough state school teachers get 6 off in the summer not 8 and you were proposing to cut that in half while ignoring the huge logistical and contractual issues that would cause.

You have no interest in genuine discussion so back onto ignore you go.

Name the time and you can come to my school and teach. You won’t last a week.

EDIT: it’s state school so you’ll have to mix with the poor people. Have you got enough PPE?

He's barely literate though.

Still he could teach the kids how to have a pretend life online

I don't buy this shit of not reopening schools. Me and my daughters mother are key workers. My daughters been in school all the way through, along with around 30 other pupils.

Not one child has been suspected. Not one member of staff, '( and a lot of them have been in). Its an excuse in my eyes. Why am i able to have contact with people in my line of work (delivery driver), where i am in contact with over 50 people a day, yet teachers can't?. Screams of a cant be arsed till September attitude to me. Education is important.

Luckily my daughter has been taught around 2 hours per day ( shes in reception) so won't struggle, but what about other children who haven't learnt a thing since March?

Open the schools with measures out in place best as possible. Same now with most workplaces. The furlough money and business grants etc aren't a bottomless pit of money. We need to get back to normal asap now.

Sheild the vulnerable best we can, and take precaution best we can and crack on.

When you say your daughter has been in school with 30 other pupils, is that in total or in her class?

Primary teacher goes back teaching a class of 30+. Kids have no clue as to the dangers, social distancing etc. Need to touch everything. Little germ factories.

Secondary teacher goes back. Takes say five lessons a day. 30 kids or more per class. Some of those kids will see friends outside of their own class. In potential contact with over 150 different people a day. And you know some will ignore efforts to social distance etc just to be a pain in the arse. And there will be the odd dickhead who will deliberately cough on teachers or even spit at them.

Then they all go home......

Do you even realise they have to prepare all the stuff they have to teach, get all the materials ready, lesson plan, mark, etc.

Does your work only start and finish when you're actually in meetings, on the phone etc or is most of it preparing for those meetings etc?

I trust teachers and their unions to know more about, care more about and be having sleepless nights about the welfare of children, their families and their communities than the dishonest shower of sh!t that constitute the Johnson government.
That the Tory party have the brassneck to talk about deprived children's health and education after presiding over welfare cuts for a decade AND throwing the care homes to the wolves is beyond despicable.
They are only interested in economic units. The kids must go to school whether it is safe does not matter one jot.

A reasonable estimate for good teaching is double or triple the time spent in the classroom outside of it, varies by course (more for English, less for PE) and experience level of the teacher. Then you have TLRs/Management responsibilities on top. Coursework season can easily lead to you marking and remarking work for entire classes multiple times a week let alone a term.

The days of teachers that rocked up at 8:30 and hit the pub at 3 went out with the cane.

My wife's a teacher, they're all worried about going back to an environment where nobody can tell them it's safe and it's hard to guarantee distancing or protection. Given the choice they'd much rather be in safe classrooms doing a job that's primarily face to face and easier than struggling to do whatever they can at home now. Anyone claiming laziness can fuck off.

In this country. Some countries still value their teachers and treat them well. That's why so many are fucking off.

I bet if you'd asked teachers to procure some PPE they wouldn't have spaunked tax payers money on 400,000 duff gowns from a dodgy Turkish t shirt salesman.

It gets lonely being a security guard. Especially when everyone in the main gatehouse has had enough of you so they’ve kicked you out and you’re sitting in the little one on your own dealing with exits.

But but this weird man on a city website says everyone loves the government. Please also note this a YouGov poll and is not just related to the handling of the pandemic
