This is a lockdown. There’s laws saying you can’t leave your house except for a few given reasons. That’s lockdown.

Social distancing is stuff like 2m apart when out, wearing masks, no contact deliveries, the stuff you can do without lockdown when life is carrying on as well as during lockdown.

I've got the Police Chiefs Council guidance for officers saved on my phone in case I get moaned at when I take the dog out (you're allowed to drive somewhere to walk the dog which people have been hassled over), and collected food from a takeaway is on the allowed list.

Its more that the lockdown has been badly implemented and mostly voluntary. We'll see more of this as more places decide to open back up.

I used to have a number 1 back in my yoof but not done it for a while and quite like it. No idea what number mine is, I think a number 2, ended up doing it with a beard trimmer.

You're playing with semantics.

Regardless of lockdown/social distancing definitions some measures will have to be kept in place to keep Ro at or below one. Yes, test and trace will help but we're never going to do that as effectively as China so some restrictions are likely to remain in place for sometime, as stated by Whitty and Sturgeon.

It’s more of a restriction of movement than a lockdown in the UK.

I’m not expecting to be able to visit home until next year, very challenging with family over, especially with parents getting older and my nephews growing up.

Apparently there's "no chance" measures will last that long so get your flights booked mate.

I see the CMO is talking about overall excess deaths, which would suggest by some estimates we are already at double the stated 20k “doing well” target.

I think that’s pretty conclusive evidence that my the governments own metrics we have not handled this “well”.

Potato potahto. It was widely reported as lockdown. Everyone calls it lockdown. It’s not particularly enforced, but it’s lockdown in our own way. When people say lockdown they mean the restrictions on their movement.

I hope so but I the problem is going to be more from this end, I reckon. It seems like we are going to be restricted to staying with the region here for at least 2 months still, will get a weekend in Venice booked in though

Whitty said they are taking into account the mental health effects of restricted movement.

I'm not arguing with you on something that is freely available if you read passed the headline.

Think it’s harsh on Starmer to be less trusted than Hancock (a serial liar) and Raab (a total fucktard) but it does lend to the point that the incumbent administration will always have an inflated popularity during a crisis.

Couldn't tell what?

I put a link up to how smokers look as though they have less chance of getting the virus. That is it.

Then your POV counts more than mine because you have a degree. Best thing is you don't know what qualifications I have as I don't keep mentioning them. I have never mentioned them once that I remember. And unlike yourself I have never said how much I earn either.

Is this now me being facetious?

I trust both ahead of Johnson. That man wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him in the arse.

All a bit weird to trust politicians on CV anyway as opposed to medical people.

Wife has now been informed that the choice will be down to parents if their kids go back to school when they reopen. Suppose it is changing all the time for yourself.

How are the people that live near you taking it? Do they want to get back to work?

Agreed, it is a lockdown in that if you're doing certain things you would usually be about to do you are breaking a law and liable to criminal prosecution.

Btw after we had the discussion on the tik tok video why weren't we outraged at all the pictures of nurses and doctors in masks etc holding up signs saying 'Get Well Soon Boris'? Surely they've got enough to do without faffing around making signs and posters for facebook/Twitter likes? Plus why specifically mention Boris to get better? What about every other patient? You know, the ones that didn't specifically deny you a pay rise and has failed to procure you the PPE/ventilators either through incompetence or mistruths.

Oh OK.

You said you know that those who smoke and end up getting the virus will have worse symptoms. You know this because you have a degree.

Yes it is the Mail. But it quotes where all the evidence has come from.

Like I keep saying I prefer to look at all evidence with an open mind and not just state what I think. This shows why.

Solid argument.

Meanwhile, in reality:

From: Lockdown - Wikipedia

During the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, the term lockdown was used for actions related to mass quarantines.[2] Lockdowns can limit movements or activities in a community while allowing most organizations to function normally, or limit movements or activities such that only organizations supplying basic needs and services can function normally.
