It was just on tv again, he actually said it wasn't possible to stop all infections nor was it desirable because we want to build up immunity. Slightly different I think.

Assume they'd be heavily punished if they failed to fulfill fixtures? Or are they saying they'd play behind closed doors?

Mikel Arteta just tested positive. Will be stunned if the Arsenal game is played at the weekend.

Yes, the way I took that comment was that is one of the reasons why we are not reacting like other countries and shutting everything down. Time will tell if that is the right decision.

No massive surprise I guess given the contact he'd have had with Marinakis.

Not good news about Arteta. They are talking about the Premiership will have to postpone now. Knock on effect to the football league?

I actually thought the PM and medical experts handled the press conference well today
Watched it live and I thought they were open and frank and explained the reasoning behind not shutting everything down immediately

End the season now. Come up with a clever algorithm to work out who goes up and down and we can all be happy.

It’s not really the same but I do agree once it
stops it should stop. Playing behind closed doors is stupid.

It'd need to be for more than a month. I think it'll just be cancelled.

Hit the PAUSE button on the season and restart it once the worst is passed.
Only take 5 weeks in May, June, July or August. Then give players 2-3 weeks off and start the next season. Why are we so obsessed with calendars.
Simple and no arguments or legal challenges.

Same for schools, universities.
Just reset when its over whichever month that is.
The only thing stopping it is people being obsessed with a timetable which can be altered

If the season was cancelled and teams promoted on points per game it'd be us, Rotherham and Wycombe (currently in 8th place) promoted.

If season is paused to finish later then with most team with 9 games left or possibly 8 if this weekend still happens, you play 2 games a week for a month.

Think there is a very real possibility that the league will be initially postponed and ultimately cancelled depending on how long this virus lasts for. How things go from there it's impossible to say. Clubs like Man United, Spurs, Aston Villa and Bournemouth are not going to be happy if they're forced to finish where they are now.

Honestly, if they void this season I'm done with football. We have paid good money and not to watch 'friendlies' which is what they would become.

this is it...the season is basically done. If only 40% of the season was complete then you can see it being voided.

In 1963 because of the winter weather some teams were playing 2 or 3 games a week at the end

Play 3 games a week if you have to... it’s a unique scenario and unforeseen event. They will have to find a solution to this. Voiding the season just wont happen.

We would be utterly screwed if this season was voided or delayed significantly.

Was trying to explain to Liverpool supporting workmate. Yes it would be hard for them to swallow but they would bounce back, they are the top of the pyramid. Their players would stick around or be replaced.

For us we would lose half our squad. The likes of Dabo, Hyam, Rose etc would get hoovered up by Chapionship teams.

Even a long delay could fuck us over as regards to loans. O'Hare and Walsh are only ours till mid May.

I really hope they can limp through this season. The team has defied the odds, somehow it feels like Robins has captured lightning in a bottle. I really fear that we could get scuppered big time by this.
