Now personally I could see why he might just make a quip to relieve tension, it might be his way of coping with stress, so I'm not going to get hung up on it, but it does fit with the narrative that we need a politician rather than a comedian in charge.
That being said, they have an uncanny knack of nominating people I'd like less than their predecessor, so I'd rather Johnson than Raab! I also think, in a situation like this, the country needs a leader, a figurehead. To not have one puts us at crisis point psychologically. I hope he gets well soon, for his sake, and for the country's.

It’s only had a link put up for you three times in the last 24 hours but you keep sticking your fingers in your ears pretending everyone is talking about an interview on this morning, it wasn’t. Just to recap he said it on an official Coronavirus virus news conference with Chris Whitty stood next to him.No he didn’t say it all (I assume it’s the this morning interview) he didn’t say operation last breath (would have been a pretty funny one liner but hey) and he did t shake hands it was just a Pr visit and statement - one not dodged it and showed other leaders doing the same thing

the operation last gasp was alleged to be said in a conference call with 60 companies regarding ventilators. One of these allegedly said this comment was made and oddly this person is anonymous and “leaked” the comment to politico.
As far as I’m aware no one else can remember the comment so I think we can conclude he didn’t - my point if he did (which it seems is not likely) it’s hardly encouraging mass deaths and is a parody of a war operation naming - it’s not a hanging offence
