Yeah, he spouted a wish list of things but not a single clue about how this will all be achieved. Note that those famous clinical testers amazon are on hand, no IG risk I'm sure

It's good, but having trusts need to rack up debts to stay running is a scandal in the first place. I assume also that these were debts to outside sources - if they're actually govt held debts that's just terrible.

Hancock announced it within 2 hours of Johnson.

Just more bullshit.

As has been mentioned no-one knows how serious each of them got it. As far as I know Johnson and Hancock should both still be in isolation, so if Hancock isn't he's technically the one at fault.

However, if Johnson is still well enough to chair cyber-meetings he should be well enough to at least address the nation via recorded message or interviews online.

Not that I'm not putting it past him using it as an excuse to hide away.

I'm all for thanking the NHS staff, but tonight we have had clapping and now fireworks going off.

What next, party poppers, a cake and pin the tail on the donkey?

Let's praise and thank them, but no need to turn into into a ringside circus and sideshow.

Or am I being too harsh?

it just proved what an absolute pile of bullshit austerity is and as a lot of us have been saying, a political ideology.

Johnson has made a career out of hiding and running away. I didn’t think he’d pull his usual stunt while thousands of his citizens died, but I guess that’s the measure of the man. I just hope the poor chap can raise himself from his sickbed in time for his next zoom meeting.

Did everyone do that, was it as big a deal as the mass clapping thing?

I do get what you mean (and I realise I haven't joined in - hope I'm not the only one on my street so I end up shunned!) but I suppose it's some kind of collective solidarity, feeling good in an acreage of shit?

On this day 4,981 people had died, the U.K. had known about the disease for 2 months, and Italy had already been locked down for 3 days.

Did my bit tonight and clapped the NHS.

But that's it. I'm not going to post a status on social media. I didn't record a video.

I am going to do what's best for the NHS: stay indoors and if I do go out stay 2m away from people.

That is more important than clapping for 60 seconds.

I think it was relatively stable again, not really too much movement either way.

don't think he's slating the applause, more the fireworks.
Fireworks aren't cheap, they could have put the money towards the NHS just giving fund. Just attention seeking.

Exactly that. Clapping, yes. Fireworks? Nope. Cheapens the sentiment for me.

It'll be a couple of weeks before it starts to give reason for optimism, I think.

myself and the wife passed a house on Fletchemstead Highway this afternoon while going out for our daily walk.
A house had a balloon rainbow outside, I said look at those attention seekers, she accused me of being cynical:

The reason why this Coventry house has been covered in balloons

just a fucking publicity scam.

I would have thought fireworks would be when we have seen the back of this bloody thing, not now.

I do think a lot of it is indeed attention seeking.

Will probably be a firework competition next Thursday. See who has the most and can cause the biggest bang etc.

I saw there's starting to be some civil unrest in Italy, (you might tell me that's bollocks), but if its true, how long can the lock down hold before people really lose it?

Agree, and when you do go to the supermarket some people are still not keeping 2 meters apart.

That is not helping the NHS.

Not debts to outside sources. Trusts who spend more than their income have interest bearing loans from the Government. The interest and loan repayments make it more difficult to live within income, so more loans given. It’s not all loans that are being written off, only a certain type of loan. Most non foundation Trusts have loans. UHCW isn’t a foundation trust.
