From what I read here the German reporting is different and they only report on those who died as a result of the virus, is that right?

God knows. Though if that we’re true it’d probably mean Germany has one of the steepest curves in Europe, which I doubt.

Fucking hell, I can't wait for the football to be back. If we don't fill the stadium when we are finally allowed back in (whatever stadium that may be) I'll be livid with our fans.

But that is part of the fear. The virus will still be present when restrictions are lifted and everyone wanting to go out to things like the football will result in a second wave.

I'll be avoiding massively crowded events for a while even after restrictions are lifted.

Yes we do, it’s shit. But I know exactly what Grendel means too. Not sure what the issue is, different people want different things. And before anyone throws accusations my way, my house is average, I love it and don’t feel the need for anything else. But I don’t see an issue in people wanting more if they have the cash? Each to their own, they have to take the financial risk on, it’s not freeloading.

I wasn't arguing about the rights or wrongs of it - if that's what people want and it gets them out of bed in the morning then fine.

My issue is with the term of it 'bettering yourself'.

Maybe it's semantics but having all this stuff may well make life easier, more enjoyable, which can easily be described as 'better'. But making YOUR LIFE 'better' is a completely different thing to 'bettering' YOURSELF.

Back to football matters. Wish the FA would now just say what would happen in the event of halting the season. Total void or league positions honoured/calculated. Would ease the limbo.
Have yet to hear a good argument why voiding if the 'fairest' conclusion despite the numerous claims e.g Brady, Ferdinand etc

Yeah I saw something about that, it’s related to the “viral load” you get, which I assume means as you say if you get it from someone with bad symptoms you will have them too.

Yeah, I think it’s also what Fernando was suggesting ie it’s the the quantity of the initial viral load which could determine the severity of the symptoms (something to do with the immediate pressure a higher load puts on the immune system). Therefore there could be a significant difference in the severity of the illness caused someone sneezing on you and if you contracted it by picking it up from a surface.

Early stage analysis so by no means certain but interesting

ps not a laughing matter but for some reason the sound of ‘viral load’ does make me smile

Poland's new rules - so guessing we here in Hungary aren't too far from this (similar govts). can't imagine how the UK police would enforce the one about youths

New Corornavirus Restrictions & Residence Permit issues - 31.03

Prime Minister Morawiecki has announced new and stricter rules relating to the 'state of epidemic' that exists right now in Poland. These rules will take effect from midnight, and will be in place for a minimum of 2 weeks.

- Parks, boulevards (effectively riversides), public squares and beaches will be closed.

- You must keep 2 metres distance from other people at all times when in public. At work, the regulation is 1.5m.

- All beauty and hairdressing salons, tattoo parlours, etc. are to be closed.

- Shops may only have 3 people inside per cash register - so for instance, if a shop has one cash register, then a maximum of 3 people can be inside at any moment. If the shop has 5, then 15 people can be inside. And so on.

- 2 people for every window inside post offices.

- At outdoor markets (if they are open), then 3 people maximum at one stall.

- Gloves must be worn before entering shops. Shops will be obliged to provide them.

- Construction stores (Castorama, OBI, Leroy Merlin, etc) are to be closed during weekends.

- Grocery stores, drugstores and pharmacies are only for people over 60 between the hours of 10:00 and 12:00

- Rules regarding the distance between people must be kept in all workplaces - including factories, offices, etc. They should also be fully supplied with disinfectants. This applies from Thursday.

- Hotels are to be closed. It seems that all accommodation providers will be obliged to close during this time, not just hotels.

- If you enter Poland from abroad, then you will have to be isolated and quarantined for 2 weeks. In practice, this means that you cannot stay with your family or housemates - you must stay at a separate place for those 2 weeks.

- It will be mandatory to disinfect (every time) anything touched by customers - for instance, the 'pinpad' when buying something by card, or petrol station pumps.

- City Bike Rental systems are closed.

- All buses are to be 'halved' - same as the rules on MPK Wrocław today. In short, there can only be half the amount of passengers as there are seats - if there's 70 seats, then 35 passengers can be carried.

- All rehabilitation treatments are cancelled, with the exception of those that are medically necessary.

- Children (up until their 18th birthday) are banned from leaving home without a parent or other adult guardian. They cannot go outside together with another person under 18.

- Restrictions on movement (i.e. distance from another person) do not apply to families with small children.

- Police and army patrols will be enhanced

The Health Minister said regarding walking and running:
Let's treat it as a necessary mental health hygiene measure. It is not about us keeping fit, it is not about running some kilometers around the house. The idea is that we can go out, ventilate as soon as possible and return home - said Szumowski. - Let's not use it for jogging and improving our physical form during these two weeks - added the minister.

About transport by car:

The new rules do not apply to passenger cars. - But this movement should be for some purpose. Let's not look for loopholes in this regulation. The point is that we should approach this reasonably. Not to infect others, said Szumowski.
There is no ban at present on family gatherings.

If you break these rules, a punishment from 5000 to 30,000PLN will be given. so just under a grand up to 6k GBP

It could also be that Italian and Spanish medics have worked themselves into the ground weakening their immune systems or a combination of both.

Yeah, I might be a touch biased but surely finishing the current season is more important than starting next. Who knows how things will develop over the coming months and who could say with any confidence/certainty that next season will be able to be completed as normal without any significant disruption ?!

It's to do with classification.

As the outbreaks are regional rather than global they're classified as epidemics rather than pandemics.

Not that the way we look at it as largely 'not our problem' is palatable, but we do contribute towards it via foreign aid and the UN. There is also an issue about who much of that help actually gets through and isn't creamed off.

It’s also known that numerous have been totally asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms

ps I know one person who’s 99% certain (according to NHS 111) she’s had/got it and cough still hasn’t gone away after a week, then again she hasn’t taken any medication

I think grenners is referring to the people who are asymptomatic. The UK cmo said there could e as many as 10x the cases if you factor them in. We won't know this until we start widespread antibody testing

Do you think that people living in the ex soviet states are more amenable to this sort of control? Granted it is now a very long time ago and beyond the memory of a lot of people under 40.

I only know a couple directly but I know more indirectly over in the factory- minimum week and a half and thats if it really was mild. I know one who is still rough after 3 weeks and that was "mild".

Boris clearly did have symptoms otherwise he wouldn't have been tested, he wasn't asymptomatic (unless he was lying). So either he was totally asymptomatic and a test was done as a precaution & was positive (in which case there's a lie as we were told he had reported symptoms), or he is symptomatic and is a miracle of medical science, and can come out of hiding in 3 days when the rest of planet earth is told 14 days is the isolation period.

There is no shock or surprise here, just more inconsistencies & bullshit flying around.
