Also, would the issue discussed really make a difference to the figures. I can't imagine any relatives or next-of-kin saying they wouldn't want their loved ones death to be recorded in the figures. I'm pretty sure that excuse is utter utter bullshit as well. The families do not need to consent to somebody being counted for the purpose of statistics.

Fucking ridiculous TBH. We’re all sat here wondering when we can get on with life and the government aren’t giving us the one stat that might tell us that.
So essentially a big chunk of mortalities will never be reported. Some will have no family, I highly doubt they have a guy going round getting consent from families, and sometimes the question will just never be asked. None of those will be counted. Yesterday's figures felt wrong at the time, now we know why. We're even taking a "scientific" approach to counting deaths.
They don’t ask for permission to record the numbers of deaths. If the times for collection of the stats has changed, there will be a one off blip and then it will proceed as normal.
