Well it does as staying at home with governmental advice is indeed the way. Action involving curfews, fines for being in a park is very much a removal of liberties. This current government want to put an act through parliament next week which I’m sure will include such measures. Along with many labour and Lib Dem’s I oppose it

I saw it is for 2 years there which is actually quite incredible...you're the one who voted for them though!!

The measures here will be lifted over a period of time, I am amazed how well respected they are being observed on the whole though, there is a mindset here that rules are only advisory and there to be got around.

Just saw on the news, there are pubs in Scotland that have remained open. They have said they will remain open until it is illegal for them to do so. So Sturgeon is trying to rush through legislation.

What sort of fucking bellends are running these pubs ffs?

The measures won’t be lifted as the virus is likely to only be suppressed. On the Marr show today a WHO director was complimentary of the UK approach as complete restrictions cannot hope to survive for anywhere near enough of a period to have any effect without social disorder and societal breakdown

that article talked about 2 pubs, and It might be bad in Dublin perhaps but around here it’s pretty well observed tbh.

It’s nothing like it around here either, but I’m sure it’s probably worse up near Dublin. It’s a small population, maybe the sheer number of people makes it harder to handle in bigger countries. I can’t believe that all these people are just ignorant as to what’s going on, maybe panic spreads faster with more people- who knows.

I think theres something in that, my mum said things are ok in quiet Kenilworth, whereas in London, where I am, people are behaving like morons.

To be fair they might be needed for two years. I left the Labour Party in the early 2000s due to civil liberties concerns but I think it’s obvious that for the plan to work they’ll need the ability to turn on and off these powers at will as the data allows and not have to go through parliament each time.

That means actually nothing - it’s aimed at dating people need to observe social distancing in parks and public areas - it’s not banning people leaving their houses

Exactly, and the reason that, when we do lockdown, we'll have to lockdown for longer than had people listened to the advice being given now. They don't seem to understand this.

For those in other countries- is U.K. any worse right now than other countries for flouting the advice and packing out markets, shops etc? Seems like Cov is quiet but you don’t have to look too hard to see pics and reports of big groups out in force like nothing is going on. Are we worse or is there a degree of sensationalism going on?

Unfortunately, in extraordinary circumstances, whereby people are dying, some have shown they don’t deserve any fucking liberties.

Yesterday you, unbelievably and without evidence, accused me of wanting people in this country to die.

Yet here you are wanting everyone to go about their daily business while the rest of the world puts stringent measures in place.

The streets and roads are very quiet, in reality it is a tiny minority who are selfish enough not to obey the law.

Yeah. Better to spread the virus and kill people as long as you can get fresh air. So none of them have gardens. None of them have open spaces without large crowds.

You are frothing and obsessed and want people locked down and no doubt fined or imprisoned if they do not and by locking down I mean actually venturing out

Italy are breakdown these restrictions every day - so what would you do? Tazor them? Shoot them? I won’t be disappointed as you’ll get your wish soon so hope you enjoy it

What about those who don’t? How long do you think it’s going to be needed? The WHO guy today said probably at least 18 months for it to work - are you ok with that?

If the cases of people as young as 30 “fighting for their lives” and “likely to die before they can be treated” are to be correct, you’ll see a frantic step up in gears in the UK.

It's like with the supermarkets, if people just acted as normal we'd be fine but people are acting like selfish pricks.

I walk the dog in the memorial park all the time, before all this you'd only see a handful of people unless it was a bank holiday or some event. Now its rammed with people sitting around in groups drinking, having picnics etc. They aren't gong for a walk to get a bit of exercise / air. Not to mention there's now loads of rubbish and broken glass where they can't even be bothered to clear up after themselves.

And we're on the same amount of deaths as they were at this point.
Hopefully we find a way of restricting the number of fatalities to well under what they have suffered.

You have no regard for the severity of this situation or any compassion for human life and are happy for people to die to protect the economy and because you want to go the park.

Go fuck yourself.

More like two weeks, though today’s numbers are hopeful, we’ve had days like that before only to shoot up afterwards. Let’s hope Italy have peaked and that means we can probably get away with four weeks total lockdown. Of course it’s once they take the restrictions off and how fast it rises that determines how quickly the restrictions will need to go back on again. I’m hoping a month of lockdown means people take the less serious measures more seriously after, but wouldn’t be surprised if people take a “Make the most of it while we can” attitude.
