This may be shit advice but everyone keep saying “went to X large supermarket”. I’m hearing even the co-op is OK and smaller businesses are both less likely to be mobbed and more likely to need the business over the next few months so why not head to a local shopping area and hit the greengrocers etc?

That’s my plan tomorrow.

It's a good one.

I have only been to coop, one stop or a small shop over the last few weeks. Yeah they dont have everything but they have more than enough to be able to put meals together.

This is why I don't get why people choose to go and spend their day at ASDA.

My youngest daughter (who has asthma) has had the virus as has another daughter's husband
Both work in London and are in their 30's
It wasn't pleasant but both are starting to feel better and symptoms are going
Most people like them won't be in the official statistics as they phoned their doctors and were told to self-isolate and ride it out
Two points from this:
  1. The death rate is likely to be a much lower % than feared as lots of sufferers aren't tested
  2. Younger, relatively fit people can get through it even if they have respiratory problems
Hope this is useful

Did they get tested to confirm they had it?

Plan to do the same. Not looking forward to it though, but needs must, my reserves consist almost entirely of Bachelors super noodles. I'll get scurvy at this rate. Been leaving it on the basis that once every greedy fucker has stocked up, the shelves will be re-filled, but it appears not. Where the fuck is everybody keeping all this food?

Never understood how people can be so passionate about politics.

I mean football where they have grown up, usually watching their dad's love of it and then joining him as a kid. I get very passionate.

Getting all passionate about Johnson or Corbyn, nah I'm alright. Wouldn't trust either of them to babysit.

But there are many people who HAVE been brought up with parents as fanatical about a political party as others are about football. It's why you get entrenched views.

Plus it's shit that actually matters in how our lives turn out. We have a shit season - hey ho roll on the next one and hope we do better.

Hopefully the rumours of the government subsidising wages up to 75% are true. I guess we find out later.

Personally, I'm screwed. Work from home as a freelancer and I only started up the business recently. I don't know if I'm entitled to any sort of grant as that will be administered via local authorities based on business rate records - but I don't have a business premises as I work from home, and I don't even have a payroll set up yet as I've been living off savings while I start the business. All that money has gone. Really worrying times.

Johnson was an absolute fucking disgrace earlier by the way. Worldwide pandemic that will have dire consequences both here and abroad and our supposed leader is complaining about having to give briefings and sounding bored the entire time he actually is. No wonder we can’t get people to take this thing seriously when the Prime Minister doesn’t sound like he’s taking it seriously whenever he opens his mouth and refuses to put actual restrictions in place.

Because he didn't want the job for the actual work. He wanted it for the prestige and power so he could get into more womens knickers. He doesn't give a shit about the job itself. He never has done. All his ex bosss say he doesn't do details or dedication - just do the minimum amount possible.

Hypothetically it's possible. The grasping cunts that have been in charge for 10 years have however left us in a situation where we can't care for people that are vulnerable. People that have paid into the system their whole lives are going to die because these scumbags wanted to add to their extraordinary hoard of cash. Give me a guy whose tie is wonky over people that have forcibly mismanaged us into a situation where we are unable to cope.

Trouble is at the end of it those supporters will be "Well he did his best in very trying circumstances and with what was available". Totally ignoring the fact that the reason there was so little available was because they'd spent a decade reducing that availability.

Yeah the small local places seem to be better stoked currently and as you say need the business in some cases. I'm trying to support local and independent businesses where possible through this.

The butchers and greengrocers in Cheylesmore were well stocked yesterday. The Turkish barbers was empty and it never quiet there. Beer Gonzo in Earlsdon have implemented local delivery and are focusing on getting orders through the website as the taproom is closed so get your fancy international beers in from there.

If lots of people aren't tested and you're doing the death rate against tests/positive tests surely the % will be higher? Only those worse affected/hospitalised will be tested.

If you're doing as % of population overall then maybe, but the expected death toll was purely a guess anyway as you've not got exact data to go on regarding ease of transmission and lethality for this exact strain.

But being shared bikes they also massively increase the risk of transmission and spreading it around the city. Can't see everybody wiping down the handlebars etc before/after every journey.

5 days in and I've already had enough.

If we are in 'lock down' for the next 3 months I think I'll lose the plot properly.

Can't go out and do almost anything. I still don't really understand the seriousness of it all to be honest. Can't help but think it is a bit over the top.

I understand there are people vulnerable to the virus and of course the right precautions should be taken there, but otherwise the whole world has to be in isolation for 3 months because of a flu on steroids?

I know we're only just coming into the midst of this thing but is anyone else getting concerned over the long term economic impact not just of the disruption but the rescue packages? We've already got nowhere to go but negative on interest rates.

The Liverpool football anthem You'll Never Walk Alone was broadcast by 180 radio stations across Europe this morning, including Slovenia's Val 202.

It's a defiant message of solidarity, as millions are cooped up at home in the coronavirus crisis.

But the BBC's Balkans correspondent ,Guy De Launey, says Slovenia has just told people officially that they should walk alone if they go outside, to avoid spreading the virus.
