Yup, they say not yet, but within 10 days there may well be.

Just to confirm, all the sporting events in Italy have been suspended. The French league is to be played behind closed doors or in front of 1,000 spectators. Is the latest I’ve read on my commute.

Okay. Stand corrected.

How do you choose which 1,000 supporters?

Aren't they closed doors or below 1000 people at the moment. They were yesterday anyway.

End the season now and we go up as champions

You would assume the FA and EFL have some kind of documented disaster recovery plan / contingency covering scenarios like this. My workplace does, regardless of how low the risk of something like this happening is (or was).

The worse for us would be be any delay - time would give injured players the chance to recover - must win game against the Shrews - need to be as far up the table before any major decision is taken

While we are on a run it would ruin momentum, would players have to stop training as well? What about friendlies for match fitness?

The one chance in my lifetime to potentially see us win a league and it might be ruined.

Also, how much would this fuck us up money wise? I assume people would be going mad demanding refunds if they are behind closed doors, no income from gates or anything like that.

Well, yup, that would kind of make sense in one respect, but it wouldn't quite work if they did stop the season now for instance.

Fleetwood are on the same points as Sunderland, but have played a game less. There is always going to be that headache isn't there.

If all teams have all played exactly the same amount of games there could be an argument to end the season, but it's never the case is it.

I know we say it mostly in jest, but I don't think you can just end the season early.

Behind closed doors seems to be the only feasible option.

Suspension doesn't seem fair, nor does cessation. Behind closed doors is not fair on the fans, but would probably work as the best solution.

The logical option for loss of gate receipts would be the Premier League clubs filtering down whatever TV money they would have had

Think Shrewsbury will be the last game, for a few months, we attend. By the weekend we play Lincoln I expect games will be behind closed doors. And a week or two after that a suspension of games for a month

I don’t understand allowing just a 1,000. Surely it’s either everyone can attend or no one can?

I suppose they can have several seats of space between each supporter. That would look totally weird though.

Smells of 87 and Europe - no way the Prem would pass any funds down the league

Don’t see why. The point of behind closed doors isn’t to stop players getting infected it’s to stop an acceleration point in thousands of people getting together. Stopping clubs playing behind closed doors won’t have much impact. There’s probably already infected players right now.

When referring to 1000 spectators I would assume that would be for back room staff, reporters, non playing team members, security, medics and possibly agents. No fans will be present

Watch our whole team catch it but we still have to play games with Kastaneer up top on his own and Jobello on crutches. Meanwhile every other team has players coming back from injury and we get hammered every game and end up in 8th.

Yup. Suspend it for a month and we still might have players and clubs catching it after the month is up. Then what?

Exactly. Then how many players have to have it before a game is off?

What if a main player has an injury and they want to wait until he is fit so blag coronavirus to get it called off? Something Bolton would do.

Season ticket holders on first come, first serve basis, I presume. Or by date of original purchase. They would find a way to alienate a section of us!

And surely there is the temptation that if you are the City and let's say Mason, Wakefield and Mason have it right now, for us to report them as carrying knocks so the game can go ahead on Saturday?

How do we know how truthful clubs are going to be?

Clubs will play it to their advantage to try and get games called off to wait for players to come back from injury. I'd imagine if Ipswich was postponed for a month it would have been a different game with their players back from injury.

Other clubs shouldn't do it, it's fine if we do it though. Obviously.

I've heard they are going to start first with Korean car owners who live in Keresley first and then filter it down from there.

Obviously BMW's will be last.

Probably had a mass cull and little Li is wondering why his granddad never came home from the supermarket, after just popping out for a pint of milk

Will never happen - I can’t see games being played behind closed doors I think a 2 week suspension is the only thing they might do but even then it’s fairly pointless

I think that would serve very little practical purpose at all, but would make the government look like it's doing something.

Playing behind closed doors won't stop the virus spreading. Players have proven this weekend that they will still shake hands with officials and other players at the end of the game, spit all over the pitch and sweat. Transmission is still possible. And the effects on the smaller clubs without income would be tragic. So where do the EFL stand ? If the EFL puts the season on hold, this could cause no end of problems when they restart. If the hold is for a month of two, would teams have enough time to finish this season without running into preseason and affecting next ? I can't see them ending the season early so the only other option would be to knock this one on the head, avoid any problems with fans and players getting ill and start again next season.

After all the efforts of MR and the lads, a season cancellation would be heartbreaking.
No chance we are almost 3/4 of the way through. Knock on head but keep the tables as they are. No play off games so top 3 promoted
