Says a lot when being able to string a coherent sentence together without sounding like you're making it up as you go along or contradicting yourself immediately has you labelled as a future Prime Minister.

Someone has posted up pictures from Canley Sainsburys in the local Facebook group. Row after row of empty shelves. This has been going on for days and nothing has been done to stop it and now we'll get to the point where the ones who did what they were told and didn't stockpile can't find what they need.

I got Disney Plus in an attempt to keep the kids occupied while I try to work from home, because it’s driving me round the twist with the arguing and non stop noise, then found out it doesn’t start until the 24th March. That feels like a really long way away right now.

Yes, the measures are the equivalent of QE for massive companies, they'll stimulate no demand in the economy because there is no boost to any spending power. The economy to you and I is not the same one Tories talk about. Their economy is the ability of leech funds etc to extract as much as quickly as possible.

I cannot confirm but I hear we've contacted the EU Commission to look into it. Should know back in the next 12 months.

how the fuck are people affording all this stuff? I’ve seen pictures of people’s houses and the empty shelves, where do they find the money to have what is essentially an Asda distribution centre in their house?

407 new cases according to PHE as of 09.00 this morning compared with 24 hours previously. Given the testing regime that's 407 likely to be a significant number of people who have been admitted to hospital.

If we're on about the league table: Hampshire is the highest LA area now although it's mostly London Boroughs in the top 10. Massive increase in the North West but only a small one in the Midlands. Only 3 confirmed cases in Cov so far which is quite low for a city of its size, especially given its demographic.

My girlfriend's dad is over 60 and has diabetes. She got up at 6am, did his full shop, left it on his doorstep and he came walking out of the house and hugged her.

Some people just can't be saved.

Why are we looking at a minimum of 20000 deaths and China only had 3000 or so. I don’t understand

Few possible reasons:

- China lie. A lot. And may have had a lot more deaths
- China went a lot harder on lockdown than we plan to or are able to
- China may well have only had their first wave and will get another once lockdown lifts
- There’s still a lot of ill people in China who could die. There’s 108k active cases as we speak with 7k of those critical.

(also China’s had almost 8,000 deaths)

Edit: two more

- We have a much higher population density than China
- I believe the deaths stated in the paper include non directly coronavirus related deaths caused due to lack of health care capacity. I’m not sure of the split of the total figure.

They said on the radio earlier today that its been recommended jury trials are paused but no mention of if they were going to actually do it or anything about other trials. You'd have to assume it will be postponed.

These are actions or inactions by Governments that need to be watched very carefully over the next few months throughout the world.

I've been asked to watch a film called The Contagion which seems to be similar to what is happening at the moment. Has anyone seen it?
