Coughing like mad. No sore throat. Eyes burning. Sweating like I’ve never ever sweated before even when playing football in the summer. Haven’t moved for 3 hours. Mrs is on her way home now and the lad is not going to school. Shitting it. Told work I’ll see you in 2 weeks.

The point is that if this is the biggest test of national resolve, you should be exuding authority as opposed to openly creating worry and panic by saying we are going to have to build our own, when other countries are calmly getting on and buying thousands.

Damned if you, damned if you don't. It goes back to my original point. They - the govt and the scientific experts, said that we should go down a certain route. To the untrained eye (hi), their rationale seemed logical for doing so.

Given the unknown nature of this, of course there's going to be changes of direction in terms of how we approach this. It's a given.

Without looking in detail, I bet you every single country/government has changed direction on this at least once.

There's a lot of hyperbole going around....this is a massive unknown. No one truly understands how this is going to play out.

Hope you feel better Hill. My son has had a cough since Saturday and I've got a sore throat, I assume from him. Nothing more than that though.

By the sounds of it, you have it - but again, I'm no expert. I had pig flu however long ago that was and it was horrible for about 2-3 days and then like a bad cold for a few more days.

Hope it clears soon.

I assume you are under 40 - am I right?
0.18 mortality rate for under 40's (about the same as flu).
Best of luck mate.

That makes sense though, right? The more and more countries who report their figures and get at least one case, you'd expect that sort of curve. Comparing it to China is another apples and oranges situation.

Playing devils advocate...how many did they have before and as a ratio against their population?

Do you know that the UK didn't already have orders in?

Is our ventilators per person ration already higher than Germany?

Genuinely...you or I don't know the answers to the above, so why make a big thing out of it if you don't know the answers? If you do know the answers, I apologise but there's far too much comparing apples with oranges with pears with bananas at the moment. And not just on here.

Just seen this...

Government documents show no planning for ventilators in the event of a pandemic

In 2016 the government ran an exercise to see how prepared the country is/was for a pandemic. The findings were that we do not have enough ventilators.

They did nothing to address this.

Now we're at the point where we're asking digger builders to make some.

I’m not disputing any of that. But if I wanted a car, I’d buy one from a car manufacturer, I wouldn’t ask a pharmaceutical company to make one. Their overriding job right now is to lead and be clear on what they’re doing. That’s the one thing they’re not doing.

Anyway no point in arguing, not the time I don’t think.

The thing I don't like is that people are being to stay home so you'll get better without being sure if you've had it or something else, whether you're infectious, built up a tolerance etc. The uncertainty of it all is a big worry for me. Hope it's not too bad for you

As many will know I'm no fan of Johnson and although there may have been an initial U-turn in policy in the first few days since then it has more been a case of stricter measures are on the way and we're constantly reviewing when these need to be implemented. Things are being brought in more quickly than they anticipated but frankly it's better these changes than him steadfastly refusing to admit it was wrong and make things worse solely because of pig-headedness. I'm not sure Labour would have a better response anyway and may have spent more time dithering over what response to make.

Euro 2020 postponed until next summer, says the Norwegian FA

Could this provide the space we need to finish our season?

Genuinely don’t know to be honest. Don’t even know if I’ve got it. A stubbed toe could be a symptom. It’s literally a better safe than sorry scenario as far as I’m concerned now. Any sort of anything I’d be staying in.

In the interests of impartiality I don’t see that Corbyn would have been any better. Fair criticism of the incumbents doesn’t automatically make you a labour voter or something.

Because comparing one countries numbers (apples) is different to the sum total of every other countries numbers (oranges).

If you look at one country, China, the graph reflects their journey...a steep incline and then a plateau.

If you look at the rest of the world, that incline is going to start later as the virus spreads (as the graph shows) and then a steep curve upwards as more and more countries confirm cases.

Don't dispute that at all. Just think that at first glance...people will think 'oh my god...globally we're much worse off than China' when actually, if you consider that it's not really a direct comparison, it's a different narrative to the graph, that's all.

Anyway, I'm off for lunch and a walk with the wife and boy for some fresh air.

The Telegraph is currently running an article entitled:

“Britain faces a moral choice between rampant individualism and collective altruism”

Right next to an article on “why now would be a great time to invest in the stock market.”

A few thoughts from me, feel free to dissect and argue:

1) The borders should have been shut immediately when this first broke. I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but I do feel as if all of Europe was slow to react. Was this something to do with not upsetting the Chinese or open border believers? Not having a pop, just curious.

2) I don't believe the figures coming out of China.

3) Russia seemed to have done quite well by sorting their borders early. I don't really believe their figures either though.

4) Something is well off about this. Feels like something is being blatantly hidden from us. Either that or all world leaders are totally weak and stupid.

5) I'm not a panicker but it is making me feel uneasy now. Been told to work from home for a month. Got toilet paper to last me another day or two at best.

6) Experts are contradicting each other all the time which is causing more confusion and encouraging 'arm chair' opinions to become more vocal.

7) This is being used by people with strong political views to blast their opponents.

8) The government's communication has been shite.

9) The rest of Europe's leaders may have shut down now but also reacted slowly.

10) I can't work out if this is gonna blow over and get laughed at, or if we are in for real anarchy. If it is the latter I can see some really bad shit happening. Job lay offs, looting, riots...

This whole thing is a mind fuck.
