Isn't that kind of what football was like pre-1900 though? Lots of men within a meter of eachother kicking at eachother for the ball?

I'm pretty sure 7 attackers up top was a thing and scorelines were crazy

Keen to get back into Ozark but my partner isn’t so might need to be a ‘me’ show as opposed to an ‘us’ one.

Up to the final episode now and am really enjoying it and there are three fabulous performances to be had, with Laura Linney, Jason Bateman and Julia Garner.

I can see more awards coming.

To watch it with you? I hope your sofa is big enough to have 2 metre gaps, Daz.

Black Sails - great pirate series.
Hell on Wheels - building of the American railways western series.
Deadwood - just brilliant.

I see Deadwood and I just think Peter Ramage, Simeon Jackson and Jordy Hiwula.

Always been tempted by Black Sails - might give it a go. Is it similar to anything else?

My partner randomly started watching Spooks, series one, episode one last night while I was messing about on the laptop.

It’s very dated now, but I enjoyed it when it was on originally and I found myself getting engrossed last night!

Can’t say it is. Plenty of subplots and great authenticity.

Tiger King on Netflix is probably the most entertaining documentary series I've ever seen.

I watched 6 episodes back to back today.

Just watched the last Ozark and it was a little bit pointless. It didn't really get anywhere.

Feel like I've wasted a few hours.

Really? Wow! I would say that if anything, far too much happened. So many different threads going in within the story.

The FBI witness protection angle, Ruth and her repairing her relationship with her cousin, Ruth and her wavering loyalty with the Byrds, the rival drug cartels, Helen and her daughter, the Cosgrove KC mob thing, Wendy starting to take over and the breakdown of her marriage, Darlene and the baby, Darlene and the going back into the cocaine business, Ben, the bipolar brother and his struggles.

I was concerned there was too much going on, but I thought they held it all together and the performances were just sheer brilliance.

Yeah but there was no real ending to it. Nothing was cleared up or progressed.

Just a massive circle

That's the whole point of the show though is it not? They more they try to extricate themselves from the situation, the more entrenched they become.

No matter what they try, they cannot escape. It sort of mirrors life in many ways, but you are always rooting for them and there is just that tiny bit of hope that the nightmare one day will end.

If they keep going down this path with it, it will not have that much more longevity I wouldn't have thought, but I think it is just fine for now and for me, this season seemed really fresh, because the son is growing up to be an adult and just like his dad and the wife has suddenly grabbed the reins of power and in trying to make the situation better for the family, has only made things worse.

The amazing performances keep it fresh for me too and I think Ruth Langmore is such a brilliant character too. Such depths of confusion and internal turmoil, yet, a feisty, witty, potty-mouthed ball of fire.

Speaking of Jason Bateman. I've been watching Arrested Development again the past few days. The complete madness and silliness of it is a great distraction from what's going on.

Thought I would add to the list but just to say OZARK is the best latest series out at the moment without doubt. So these are not in any order but all are exceptional in their own genre:

OZARK
BOARDWALK EMPIRE
BREAKING BAD
DEXTER
GOLIATH
BILLIONS
SAPRANOS
NARCOS
GAME OF THRONES
VIKINGS
BETTER CALL SAUL
BLOODLINE
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT
AFTER LIFE
THE LAST KINGDOM
BLACK SAILS

As sbArcher said, great series (even series 5 final which was a bit stretched out).
Don't know what you can really compare it with, haven't seen any other pirate type dramas to show it against.

My binge list of not already mentioned would be
Spartacus (Starz umbrella, same as Black Sails).
Misfits
Being Human (BBC)

Currently doing Gotham which is pretty good ... the Penguin is a real hoot.

Agree on Ozark. It has that Breaking Bad feel to it. The second season wasn't as strong, but the first and third seasons are excellent.

Actually, my daughter s watching it right now. Just getting into it.

Two things that haven’t been mentioned that are worth a watch:

Ray Donovan
Banshee

Another that I haven’t watched in years and was never really big here, but I remember really enjoying it is Rescue Me.

BBC IPlayer had a documentary about it. Don't know if it's still on there. Disturbing stuff.
