So you are saying he is scared of moving and being a first choice striker? That is bollocks. He has his head down for a Portsmouth shirt.
No, where did I say he was scared? Portsmouth is all he has ever known, got a huge support network there and does not want to be the one who instigates the move by saying I am unhappy etc. You know a bit like Maddison. We all knew he wanted to go but I don't recall him coming out and saying it. Chaplin is young and probably does not have the confidence yet to speak his mind. It is different for established pro's. Maybe he would like to go back there one day and by pushing for a move may mess that up completely. We all know how unforgiving fans can be if they feel abandoned/let down.

30 pages, well done everyone.

Would be great to sign Chapin and Stokley (although I'm sure that rumour is bullshit)

3 hour drive from Exeter to Cov just to go to Ryton for no reason and a three hour drive back to be at their fans q&a. Happy to be proved wrong but.

That would mean we have had a bid accepted.

He mustn't have been there for long to get back for their Q+A with fans. Imagine them accepting a bid and letting a player go for talks and then putting him in a questions with fans, a bit harsh!

Ok that’s fine. Sorry for your cynicism. Must be hard to be so distrusting of everyone and everything.

It's possible Nick and Exeter did announce two new signings yesterday
Would be a bit strange for Stockley to then go to their supporter's Q&A and be positive about the new season though
But stranger things have happened

Anything is possible but it would be like McNulty having a bid accepted on the quiet, him going to discuss terms and then coming back to our kit launch to talk to fans while they have no idea.

I thought we'd been talking of getting two Chapins. Connor Chaplin (to get the worldies as well as the tap-ins) and the other Chapin, just because getting any old Chapin is better than waiting for MR to pull his finger out to replace all of the goals MM might or might not have scored in L1.

I really do think it will be ok
Season ticket deadlines have passed at other clubs at our level so transfers of star players often happen between that deadline and the end of the window
Don't be surprised if we get another high profile loan from one of the top clubs
I think conversations have been going on but these players are in demand so a lot of i's have to be dotted and t's crossed

Ha, music is funky....
Regarding Shankland, decent finisher with both feet too by the looks of it, but looks a big unit and not the pacey striker MR is looking for.

All this goes to show why some of us were annoyed when McNulty was sold, not that the fee was wrong but that we all knew that £1.2 million would disappear in thin air, just like the windfall £3 million from Maddison did...and what a surprise, Robins has already hinted there isn’t money to spend. Great idea selling McNulty.

I am sure Robins working with McNulty day to day and having the opportunity to speak face to face is better placed to make a decision if it was right to sell McNulty rather than you.

Replacing McNulty is difficult, but it doesn't make the decision to sell wrong.

I’m not saying I don’t trust Robins, I’m saying I don’t trust the clubs approach for the last 15 years whereby, no matter who the manager, when we receive money for a player, it disappears. Where’s the McNulty money gone?

As far as I’m concerned we’ve lost a £1.2million asset and there’s not a cat in hells chance even a £0.6million asset will be brought in to replace him. £1.2 million might be good market value for McNulty but it’s not at CCFC as £1.2 million = £1.2 million towards running costs. Where did Maddison’s initial fee go? Where did the recent Maddison windfall go? Where did the McNulty money go? Combined that £4million minimum and are we saying 10% couldn’t possibly go towards transfer fees?

I can’t wait to quote your comment when we’re struggling for goals again.

he hasn't. he will have a couple of hundred grand to play with and get bodies over the line

...................................

Asked if he has money to spend in his quest for a new goal scorer, Robins said: “I haven’t got millions, trust me.”

When quizzed about the money from McNulty and Maddison and whether he will see any of it, he added: “We’ll have to wait and see but the idea is that what we have to do is try to find someone who we can develop.

“It’s not going to be someone from up there who can come in and do it. That’s not the model.

“So we have got to try to do something to develop people.

‘Millions’ is plural, so even if he has the full £1.2m from the McNulty sale, he still wouldn’t have ‘millions’ to spend.

We know he has at least £400-450k from the sale for Chaplin and if he wants to sign two further players, there’s a possibility he’ll go out and sign someone else on a fee. Realistically, most clubs in our situation don’t get the whole transfer fee to play with.

As for the ‘development model’, it’s a model that’s ideal for a club of our stature. We need to sign players and sell them on for a profit. This was true before Sisu and when we were in the Championship. Clubs that spend recklessly put themselves at financial risk. Which we have also done.

If we had made McNulty stay there is no guarantee he would have been banging goals in for us. Also in that scenario his value would have fallen.

If we had made McNulty stay? i seriously believe McNulty was very happy here, why wouldn't he be,great team spirit, bagged loads of goals, got promoted, sure once Reading came knocking and his agent saw £ signs, and a higher league and better wage, yeah of course he would be interested,i mean who wouldn't,but to say no guarantee he would banging in the goals is utter rubbish,he would of,everybody knows it, Reading know it, he would of scored 20+ in this league without doubt, if we don't replace him,we could struggle, yeah i am sure Robin's will be hoping Ponticelli and the rest of them will come good, they may,but it is a gamble and beside none of our current strikers could match the goal tally of McNulty at a higher level too.

Why is it without a doubt? His record in this league previously wasn’t great.

JCH has arguably more experience at this level and higher levels. With a preseason behind him, I think JCH will surprise a few
