WTF? West has to be one of the people Lucas was referring to, the other being Reeves, when she said the council had been given incorrect information about the performance of ACL. If I made a mistake like that in my job I'd be in a disciplinary trying to save my job not getting a huge pay off.

Interesting that when Gilbert was on about Newbon this morning I asked why people were completely ignoring when Newbon said about a rugby club owner backing Hoffman and talk of a Phoenix Club. Radio Silence.

Seems to be being completely ignored.

Same as how they were all getting worked up about social media abuse when a few people have a pop at Gilbert for doing Wasps PR but aren't in the slightest bit interested in accounts linked to the Trust abusing fans.

He worked for the council and ACL, not sure how the obvious conflict of interest was sorted but this is Coventry City Council, they do what they like with a supine local media lapping it up

Three weeks until fixtures announced....
Does that mean we will have to have fully committed to somewhere prior to this date (the usual apology if this has been fully answered elsewhere). I must check on here/News now service, several times a day in the hope of a positive development. Driving me to distraction.

Same as me. Come on here umpteen times a day hoping to see that a Ricoh deal has been done. It seems obvious that both sides want a deal. Just do it!

Surely something has to be said soon, the longer we don't hear a ricoh deal has been agreed the more i think we will be at St Andrews

I'm the opposite. If it was going to fall down there have been plenty of reasons for it to have done by now. That they're still talking is a good sign and maybe even that they are working on something more than a simple rental. Ideally They would just announce a 1 year extension on the same terms while negotiations continue so we can get season tickets on sale and sort out these details.

It just needs to hurry up so we can start selling season tickets therefore giving robins more money to spend

I wonder how long the fixture list takes to compile.
I would have thought we need to confirm where we're playing before they begin putting it together.

I would have thought so too Clint. The Fixture list is published on 20th June. I presume the EFL will be working on the assumption that we are playing at the groundshare (i.e. to mesh with the host team's fixtures, policing constraints, etc), which can then simply be moved back to the Ricoh if the talks reach a successful outcome.

The EFL will surely need to know soon as even if we stay at the Ricoh we will be ground sharing with Wasps, so their fixtures need to be taken into consideration. We must be edging towards some news soon.

That's nothing to do with the EFL though. The rugby fixtures aren't released until early July, so let the buggers work around US if we end up in their nest

Which is why it was outrageous that they didn't even attempt to play opposite weekends to us last year and just pushed us to Fridays and Sundays.

Ultimately though, whether for that reason or not, their average gate declined whereas ours improved. Fuck 'em.

Realistically the club is going to have to make a final decision soon, whether their hand is forced by the EFL or not. ST's need be put out on sale soon as we're approaching peak signing season and without this revenue, the club is going to suffer in the long run. Like people say though the EFL will need to know where we're playing as the fixtures will obviously need to be altered depending on where we're playing as if we're at St. Andrew's we'll have to accommodate for clashing fixtures.

I suspect we'll hear something soon, whether it's this week or early next as for both reasons stated, this physically can't drag on any further.

Couldn’t the club be creative here and say - buy a season ticket now regardless of ground and it’s £150? Would get money in early - and it would be a tempter for people to go to St. Andrews

If we sold 5,000 @ £300, it would be £1.5mil. 10,000 @ £150 would be the same, so more bums on seats and same income. Makes sense to me.

I dont think it really works like that unfortunately, maybe if we actually made money from drinks/food etc then you could see them try something like that. Most clubs our size have a core fan base that buy season tickets the rest is a gamble, would doubt we would double the uptake if we halved the price

Thing is we’re not guarenteed 10k. I’m thinking more of gettong people to buy while the stadium issue whilst rewarding those willing to go to St Andrews.

It should only be until the issue is sorted - as I said we wouldn’t get 10k even at the Ricoh

Even with a groundshare I'd be reluctant to drop the price by such an extent as it sets a precedent when we move back to the Ricoh. More crucially, I also don't think it would effect the gates that much.

To put it into perspective, I've spoken to a number of Commercial Directors about Bradford's season ticket offer and they say it's a very poorly thought out decision from a financial POV as once you drop the price of ST's it's very difficult to put them up again without causing fan unrest. For instance, at Bradford's price level, even if they got to the Championship or higher they'd still be forced to have the cheapest ST in the EFL as they've set that precedent. Great they have loads of fans but their low-cost season tickets are actually costing them a pretty significant amount and as a result their profits are limited.

Part of the Bradford model is to fill the stadium and then make revenue from food/drink /parking etc which is something we haven't been able to take advantage of.

You mean like the other Premiership Rugby teams who play at a ground also used by a football club managed to do?

The problem with the looming EFL deadline is that it weakens our negotiating hand with Wasps
I would suggest they need to agree a deal before this weekend

It's just as likely to be the opposite. We have to have it agreed by x date, St Andrews we've already agreed. Give us what we want or lose the £2m.

I’m only suggesting a limited time. It’d bring in some funds whilst the uncertainty is happening.

I’m actually personally against the Bradford model - I’m talking for like 3 weeks then when the stadium is confirmed the proper ticketing strategy comes into place

I do get what you mean though. I'll be buying one wherever we are next year so if they bought some out for £250 now saying it might be at another ground I'd snap their hands off.

Out of interest can anybody remember what the price was at Sixfields?

The more obvious consideration is that they would need to know soon because they would have to ensure that ours and Blues home games didn't clash.

Couldn't they just plan us and Blues not to clash and we keep the same if we're at the Ricoh?

I get that, but you must realise that funds generated by food/drink/parking and filling the stadium won't cover the losses acquired from dropping the price of ST's to such an extent? Pretty significant sections of fans don't spend money on such commodities at football, and parking is limited around Bradford's stadium so they have automatically lost revenue there on both counts. Also, more fans means more stewards and police for crowd control which doesn't come cheap.

I'm not saying by the way that bigger crowds means less revenue, but they're haemorrhaging money and I doubt it's a coincidence that they went down and their budget (which has been touted as sitting around lower mid table) reflects that. Whether that's down to their model I don't know but I'm inclined to think it hasn't helped them in the long term. To put it bluntly it's an uneducated statement to think they must be doing wonderful off the pitch because they've dropped ST's and are attracted 18000+ crowds - a statement I've heard countless times. But, back to my original point it frustrates me that people think it's a black and white guarantee that huge drops in ST sales means clubs will do better than everyone else as it's not that simple, otherwise surely every club would jump on the band wagon?

That's the obvious approach. We don't clash with any other EFL clubs when playing in Coventry so switching back to the Ricoh doesn't create any problems. After all, we came back from Sixfields only two or three games into the season.
I know there are fixture clashes with Wasps, but that happened last season when we were known to be at the Ricoh
