You have to think like a hedge fund owner not a football club owner

They havent accepted offers so far because of the court action which if successful could be a large settlement. The interest is just a paper figure. There will be no philanthropy about it. No one will buy into the debt they have created so the interest due is irrelevant to any deal a new owner might do and SISU know that

In any other sector the company is insolvent. We dont know what the best interests of SISU are. It might be the tax advantages of losing the capital, the interest and the shares out weigh any deal they can get. Around 17m outstanding to ARVO now plus £65m of preference shares that is a lot of tax breaks just coming out of Otium let alone other losses they have or could manufacture

Yeah agreed I think they will bug out when the ARVO investment can be shown to be in profit.

NB ARVO is what happened from 2011 on. Prior to that monies were invested badly (by Ongye & Ranson) and subsequently written off.

I get that people can be stupid, believe me. I’m just saying that part of what it takes for conspiracy to take off is lack of transparency.

I get that the club doesn’t want to put a dollar figure out each year. I’m talking about the contradictory message that’s always come from the club. That combined with the secrecy of the hedge fund allows rumour to grow.

I genuinely think fans would react positively if they communicated where we are roughly at regular intervals (especially leading up to transfer windows). Ultimately the funding of the club is opaque enough that any advantage gained in the transfer market is outweighed by unrest among the fans at a crucial time. Just a hint like “we might need to sell” or “we are sustainable this year on current projections” would go a long way and hardly give away anything significant to transfer deal partners.

That's what I'm saying - it's not philanthropic in any way but when they leave they always make it clear they've 'written off' £x of their own investment to help the club, when in reality they've not written off any of their investment and have actually made a profit. All they've usually written off is this paper figure of interest.

I agree about them persevering largely due to the legal action as they could get a sizeable amount of money if they won, as well as potentially getting what must now be a few million in legal fees.

How many football clubs do that though? It's not something specific to us.

    A fair few Id say.

How many switch their story every five minutes from “we’re secure for years” to “we’re about to go bust”? And how many are owned ultimately by mystery people with mystery amounts of cash?

So Zola’s “we’re really interested in buying a player who’s due to play against us in a cup game on a couple of days” statement turned out to be smoke and mirrors.

Almost as if they were trying to destabilise the opposition prior to a game? Surely not.

Just saw the highlights on MOTD. Played well, his all round game has come along and a real goal threat (appreciate not against the best defence in the league)

It’s been said before but genuinely chuffed for him after his injury woes ! Making the best of his ability and good luck to him (come on Chelsea get an offer in that’s too good to refuse !!!)

I think West Ham might be more likely now...especially after showing them what he can do yesterday!

Convinced he's gone or at least in negotiations with someone...subbed at any sign of injury, Howes interview etc.

Bournemouth will cash in. Type of player to keep them up but 50m(+) is a lot of money for one player...

Not sure if it is Eddie Howe just trying to scare bids off with this latest injury talk.

I was at the game, and Wilson did indeed pick a knee injury whilst shooting with his left foot. Did the 'I need to go off' hand gesture straight away, but didn't appear to be in too much pain. Fingers crossed.

Depends if the “not real debt” all of a sudden becomes real debt or not.

Maybe it was a slight twinge on the knee and thought I had better get off before I scupper a deal

Ah yes so of course we should all include the possibility something that hasn’t happened before could suddenly happen in our wild speculations

West Ham spending nearly £45M on a striker from Celta Vigo. I'm guessing they enquired about Wilson but were told a flat no. Perhaps Bournemouth were playing hard ball after all.

Funny clubs spend fortunes on untried in premiership players opposed to provern ones despite what Howe says I’m certain he’d accept a hard 50ish million quid offer for Wilson.

Yeah but tbf this player West Ham want has a decent goals to game ratio albeit in a different league and is only 22. Compare that to potentially 50m for a nearly 27 year old with 2 bad knee injuries and only this season has got double figures in the top league in his country.

    Looking unlikely now. Balls.
Think that was his peak transfer price in the Jan window.

Strikes me as a £15m Everton signing in the summer.
I bet player and club were looking for move. Prime time.

West Ham have made several bids for Wilson over recent seasons
The answer has always been he's not for sale
Then the speculation starts as to what price would represent an offer Bournemouth couldn't refuse
If Wilson himself isn't pushing for a move it's unlikely anything will happen
The club has a decent owner and isn't in money trouble. They just paid £12m for a defender from Brentford
