He revealed Town had finalised a first pre-season trip since before the pandemic and the senior squad would jet out to Alicante in Spain from July 2 to July 9. They are looking to arrange a friendly fixture.

Finally had a bit of an update today. Got some blood tests and scans of my pelvis, back and chest booked. Sounds like it was a quite aggressive form of cancer due to the size of the tumour they took out so I feel lucky the hospital acted so quickly. If my GP had messed me around for much longer before I was referred things would've certainly been even worse.
Take this as another reminder to check yourselves and that you know your body better than the person sat in front of you. If you think something isn't right, badger/annoy them until something is done.

On this, my partner who has both a chronic disease and works in the NHS strongly recommends telling GPS what you want to happen. As in “Hi, I have X and I’d like to be referred to a specialist” apparently works a lot better than “I have X, help”

When I hadn't heard about my first scan for a few weeks I went to the surgery and asked what was going on. The receptionist said she could see that one should've been requested but the doctor hadn't done it. This was in the same visit where I was asking why they'd only given us a prescription for 2L of my son's milk when he was drinking 700ml a day! I was told the GP would sort out both issues that day but I told them I wasn't leaving until I had confirmation that he had. It was done in less than 5 minutes.
A few days later the hospital ended up calling me to question me on my symptoms. When I confirmed them they said I should've been given an urgent scan but the GP had requested a regular one where the waiting list was around 6 weeks. Within 2 weeks of that call I was in theatre.
It's falling down isn't , across the board

Can't fault the hospital and McMillan nurses to be fair. They've been brilliant. Same goes for neonatal when Seb was in there.

Ok, I’ve had my own issues of late and await results of CT scan on the kidneys. I had colonoscopy, then endoscopy, 3 ct scans, x-rays and blood tests. 2 non-cancerous things diagnosed because I was presenting with excruciating abdominal pain.
CJ. It’s great you posted, we like to keep things simple and avoid ‘the noise’ of people showing they care…it’s a bloke thing. You‘re on hurdle closer to recovery. All the best

It seems to be on its arse here in Bham. Father in law went to gp with horrendous cough and loss of appetite in November. Repeat visits and palmed off time each with antibiotics as his symptoms worsened by the week. Fifth visit at the start of May and he was told if no improvement he will be referred for a scan in a fortnight.
Had to get an ambulance out a few days later as he couldn’t breath. Taken in, scanned and multiple advanced tumours found on his lungs. Died three days later.
Obviously he may have been too far along when he first went to his gp but the symptoms he had are literally the definition of possible lung cancer symptoms that the NHS push. Whether they’d have made more of an effort had he not been 70 I don’t know, but it stinks.
He didn’t smoke but was against the vaccination so me and the wife were convinced it was long covid. Sadly not.

Sorry to hear this, have had the same sort of thing happen as well. Just palmed off every time...too late, dead.

Ive added the immediate family onto the private health insurance at work after it happened just in case, but you still need a GP referral

I sympathise with you mate, Cancer is just awful. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March after being ill for the majority of last year, and regularly being in and out of hospital. It’s really upsetting seeing him deteriorate, he is just skin and bone at the moment and so frail.

The NHS is on its knees and while covid has contributed it wasn't in a healthy state before that. The system is too fragmented, different companies running different services and seemingly nobody ensuring all the parts work together.
Worst one I had was pre-covid. Went to the docs and got told to go straight to hospital (he actually wanted to call an ambulance) as he thought I had some weird tropical disease. He had no way of communicating this to the hospital and ended up giving me a hand written letter to hand to the first person I saw at the hospital, how is that an acceptable way to operate?
Regularly now I go for tests only for the results to disappear off the face of the earth because the results get sent back to the doctor by post.
The best one I had recently was when I was finally due to attend Walsgrave for some tests that have been put off since before covid. I got a letter saying the appointment had been changed to a new date and was now a phone appointment. Called up but of course you can't speak to the department in question you can only speak to some central service that deals with appointments who refused to change it as they couldn't possibly have made a mistake. Of course the phone appointment lasted seconds before I was told I needed to come in for tests but now there's no appointments available for months.
Long gone are the days of a family GP who knew you, knew your medical history and knew your families medical history. I'm lucky to see the same doctor twice in a row. Had one appointment and the doctor asked me to book a follow up in a months time and when that came round had zero clue why I was there.
Needs a massive overhaul but I think we all know we will just see and more and more fragmented system and end up with a two tier system almost by default with only those who can pay receiving a decent level of service.
