I'm not sure I can get on board with posters criticising those following people with spent criminal convictions, who in all other posts advocate for forgiveness and we should give them a chance. No problem with either stance, but choose a side and be consistent.
Thats just me isn’t it my friend?
Acceptance and repentance should come before forgiveness otherwise it’s likely to be abused
Don’t misunderstand my fair and humane treatment for convicted criminals as acceptance of their crime or forgiveness for their crime as if that’s something I can do when they didn’t offend against me in any css case

It’s more fact based and evidence base of if something led to something before it’s likely to continue
Boris compulsive liar will he stop being a liar as pm course he won’t
Farage got Brexit badly wrong and is now making the same claim. Likely the outcome will be the same too

that’s all I mean
And if Gynn wants to follow that’s up to him. His answer was more he agrees with some of what he says which is fair enough

It's not just uou Pete, although i had noticed you'd liked the post. Even Otis himself on the barge thread mentioned it in reference to others opposing and used BBR as a reference. As I said, I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong and all viewpoints are equally entitled, I just like consistency and not flip-flopping to suit the narrative in each thread.

Moretti is my current favourite, but only to have a couple of nice beers watching the tele. If it's a fridge pack for the coach then almost always Stella or Carling. I know Carling gets a bad rep but I've had for so long, it's more habitual. That's also weaker than it used to be, but probably a good thing when I'm having a few more than I should.
There’s loads of decent Italian lager these days. Moretti and Peroni aren’t great at all.

I like both tbh, but will take your steer as I know you are or were there. What do you recommend? Would certainly like to give others a try if better than those.

I'm only quoting the official estimates and comparing to past London protests by various groups.

It's funny, I was doing the same earlier today and if you compare the unite the UK rally to arial footage of the solidarity with Palestine rally in 2023 I wouldn't have said it's not all that dissimilar in terms of numbers at a first glance. The Met estimated around 300k were in attendance for that.

But perception of numbers is so deceiving it's difficult to make even a reasonable guess from footage at that height.

Did my explanation not make sense?

There's people throwing around claims of 1m plus which is insane. If anyone can remember back to the Iraq protest that brought London to a standstill and took people hours to move anywhere.

Kind of, although it was the general narrative of don't follow those, they have a criminal past i disagreed with.

Don't follow them, they're disingenuous or don't follow them, its all a fraud etc is fine, but if they're spent convictions, them that shouldn't be the stick that's used to beat them with, unless tge consistent message is they have a criminal past. As I said, im on board with all options and not a criticism of you, Otis or anyone else, your opinion is your opinion. My opinion isnt dissimilar in this case, fwiw, but it appeared, at least to me, a bit selective.

Yeah, sure, but it is worrying if you have several people, all with previous convictions, all on the same public platform, all at the same time. And it's not as if they say they made a mistake and have reformed is it

BBR said he put his past behind him and changed his life and his thinking on the world.

We do need to give people a chance for sure and I do think you can come out the other side a better person after a conviction etc.

Not sure how many times you lock up the likes of your Laurence Fox's and Tommy Robinson's though. They will always come out again with the exact same mindset and feel they have been wronged.

There does have to be a balance of course and we shouldn't just always write people off as the norm

Because it's impossible

There would have to be 20 people per m2 for there to have been 100,000 people on Westminster bridge lol

I'm not on about just the bridge lol
More to do with the overall number.

No it's called basic maths.
Appreciate he's wrong, but you've gone the other way too much. 250m x 26m = 6500m sq. 100,000 / 6,500 = 15.38 people per sqm. Reality is probably half that, so I'm saying 50,000 not sure what you've said as a number.

Yeah my bad - I measured the area based off the map view not the satellite view and the map view is way off!

I haven't given a number, just said that 100k is physically impossible.
