No one is paying £20m for him. He’s a very promising player and the fee will reflect that ….

After yesterdays game, he don’t look like a £7m+ player. He made a couple of routine blocks and tackles, won a few headers but beaten by Saka! Don’t look any better than Thomas and Kitching, he was only up against BTA mostly and Wright, they had Joseph and McBurnie to deal with, very competently actually.
Spend the money on Doyle and/or a striker, Doug.

Because he’s a very good footballer and better than what we have currently.

If he was that good wouldn’t a top club be after him? He’s a decent championship CB wouldn’t I wouldn’t say he’s miles ahead of most in this league. He barely got in the side for a promoted team and his other loans have been to upper midtable champ clubs like us and Norwich. Screams the sort of player that will see out their career at this level.

You've also got to think about the differences between playing as a centre back in a low block and being told just to defend the penalty area and playing in the system we play, where you're likely to be far more exposed.

Equally, due to their playing style I don’t think we got to see his capability on the ball.

It’s ironically the perfect system for a partnership like Thomas and Kitching. Just letting them head it and kick it would play to both their strengths much more than our high line.

Kept an eye on him to see what all the hype was about and it was fair to say (yesterday at least) he delivered. The figures being quoted of 8-9 million for a Championship centre back though are silly. I’d be disappointed if we put all our eggs in that basket and concentrated less on other areas of the team.

Is it the going rate? I don't see championship clubs paying that money for a CB who has only play 45 league one and 40 championship games, highly rated or not. A PL club maybe.
