Thought he looked a big upgrade on Kitching. Really noticeable how much he talks and organises as well.

Kitching is fine. It’s Thomas who really isn’t up to it in terms of distribution and positioning

I have to say I never saw a 10 m player in any of their team - they were just big and tall and defended well - we needed to vary the attack - short throw / short corner

I mean this is pretty much what we want in a CB

He looked a decent player but you have to remember the quality he was up against BTA would make Kitching and Thomas look like prime Baresi, I think he could even make Binks look competent.

He did look good but up against Asante most would, we played into their hands and I was shocked Lampard couldn’t see it , the over used long throw and crosses in were easy for their centre backs, and I think it was the kind of game Simms would of been better in.
His best two contributions were against Rudoni

He looked where we'd hoped Thomas would be by now. Not that he was particularly tested, he had one job to do in defending balls into the box and he looked at home doing it.

Though I think it says more about how pedestrian we are going forward, our own defence shits itself when the ball is lumped forward.

Hughes was OK. But really just did bread and butter CH stuff. He’s not a 10m player and isn’t a huge upgrade on Kitching if at all. I’d like to think you could pick up that type of CH for the championship for 2-4m on a regular basis.
Better than Thomas then?

It's tedious listening to every single player we've got being called out as shite, fotmob rated both Thomas and Kitching higher than Hughes today btw
Some good defending but didn't see a £7m+ defender. And Is I said earlier whilst he played right side, he cut on to his left and played inside virtually every time he got it. It's also easier to defend in a low block, you're facing away from goal and there little space behind to exploit.

I thought he looked decent and worked tirelessly across the back, with some good blocks. I can see why he is rated. However £20m?? NO but whoever lands him will pay in and around £10m if Hull accept, which i think they will have no choice

What happened to the WBA action you talked about ?

Opinion on Hughes goes back to how much money we have in the pot, wouldn’t want us to spend all of it on him (assuming good as he is imo) and not be able to look to improve our RW and ST
