I’m talking about the play offs in Legaue 2 G Dawg

So they are different to other play offs?

We lost through a Dabo penalty mate. Pretty unlucky and arbitrary but I guess ironically you believe that’s a management fail?
We finished higher in the table every season under Robins until our run in the FA cup, yet you still wanted rid of Robins each season.

So where was his management fail? 🤔

I have. Sappella and Robins got on.

I think as a manager he’s pretty limited on his own. He would have gone if we’d not got promoted through league two and it was luck and chance we did

He’s really an old fashioned manager. He needs a strong person beside him and without him he started to fail badly.

The interesting thing is his best years were with clubs who played at grounds they were exiled to

So why don’t you admit if we had a billion investment 25 years ago by a dodgy Saudi investor and went straight back up and never looked back you wouldn’t care less about any clubs being “denied promotion”
That wasn’t the question. To refresh your memory, the question wasn’t did Robins get on with SISU, it was whether or not he did a good job here.

So I’ll ask it again, and this time no deflection, no goalpost moving, just a straightforward answer will do.

i’m struggling to understand what you are getting at anymore G man.

The fact is that Robins did a great job getting us from League 2 to the Championship play offs.

You will say things such as “he got on well with the owner” or “he would have been sacked if he failed to get us promoted from League 2”

When in reality you are still a bit embarrassed you were calling for his head on multiple occasions to be replaced with Kenny Jackett. You have a fixation on diminshing what he did for us.

Grendel i get it you dont like robins .

But you have to admit the club was in a bad place , wed had many managers before him with the same owners and both times he was here he did well .

Id argue at that time no other man would have done what he did for us .. also 2 promotions has to be applauded but not just that , the way we stayed up and pushed on in the championship was admirable when we didnt have the biggest budget at the time .

He managed under very difficult circumstances too

He helped build most of this squad we have here today , built mostly from the money he made by selling players from the team he built before that .

You also have to admire his role in bringing back fans to the club and helping create a generation of new fans

His effect on the club and the city was biblical really and his role in where we are now is still there

You have to admire it , its odd not to

How long has Robins got?
lose the next two?
For me they have to give him another season. They stayed up last day last year so mid table would be progress and if they regress next year then whatever get rid .. the league is so challenging and really without spending tens of millions then what are you going to do overnight

They’ve just spent £10 million on a new training complex as well.

Its amazing but also give me hope we can do the same as its not exactly the biggest land area .

I imagine any further progress in our facilities hinge on promotion from here
They have owners with a bottomless money pit really, it’s not a fair comparison. Bigger facilities do come with higher maintenance costs of course, as our friends down the motorway know…so we’d need to expand things at a sensible rate.

Robins took us into mid table in 21/22 after a strong start which fell away, this looks very similar at Stoke this season. I’d give him more time if I were them.

If they have a brain no. If you add up all our injuries and put them together at the same time that's what Robins has been dealing with. It isn't as though he signed a squad of players like Sheaf either.

Pretty sure he signed a centre mid for about 4 million? Bought that centre half from Plymouth too.

They backed him reasonably in the summer, as much as they could. They'd have liked to have chucked significantly more at it I'm sure but FFP has them by the bollocks after years of mismanagement.

The league 2 play off season if you look at our results it's miraculous we got into the play offs. We sneaked in on the last day with a 0-0 draw at home to Morecombe. Notts County first leg a dodgy last minute pen for McNulty to equalise. As much as the 2nd leg was one of the best nights ever it could of been oh so different if the Notts County goal was correctly given making it 2-2. From the Exeter game right up to the FA Cup semi final season you couldn't fault Robins and Vivesh. It was time to move on though after that and they will always be acknowledged for our turnaround.

We finished in league two outside the top 3 - he’d have been fired if we didn’t make it
That's speculation, nothing more.

As for promotion that season being 'luck and chance', that's preposterous. He took over a club at its lowest ebb in anyone's life-time, we had absolutely no right to expect or demand promotion.

It's fair to say we didn't exactly set the division alight, but there was no luck in where we ended up (good enough for the play offs), and whilst there were big decisions in our favour in the Notts County game, we were much the better side in that tie and warranted the win.

Not recognising what a superb job Robins did under the most trying circumstances lacks credibility, and reading between the lines of your posts, I suspect the reason you don't like him is precisely *because* he had a good working relationship with SISU. Just as well that he did, though, as fuck knows where we'd be now if it weren't for him.

The goal they did score in the second leg should have been disallowed in fairness. Not that it matters or somehow tarnishes the job MR did.

Whilst I agree the disallowed goal should have been given, but looking at individual moments fails to convey just how much of a demolition job Coventry did on Notts County that night.

Nolan was a fraud, and football won. Notts County were appalling.
