Ipswich approach for Piroe but he wants to stay and fight for his place at Leeds supposedly, good news for us them missing out on one of their targets

Think that would be a great signing for them annoyingly. They make loads of chances, will suit his game perfectly.
Not sure... he is a proven scorer at this level but needs a lot of shots to score. Would have to change their attack to suit him. Huge outlay for a player that has already shown he can't cut it in the PL too.

Adam Armstrong's shots per goal is mental for this season

Almost 90 shots already this season:

He's basically been very meh since they had that purple patch when the new manager took over

He may do well but to say Boro create a lot of chances isn't a good indicator that he will score loads as he is getting lots of chances this year already. It looks like her has had more shots from inside the area this season already that he had shots during his last great season at this level (with Southampton).

Be interesting though.

Wrexham seem to be buying the right players, but at massively inflated prices (which is why I find them problematic).

Birmingham give no indication that they know what they are doing at all. It's all scattergun.

The frustrating thing is that neither are able to outspend their rivals due to success on the pitch, hence why I think they are both bad for competitiveness in football generally (and yes, I am well aware that there are plenty of other examples of clubs doing this).
Agree on all points.

But are they buying duds? This Spanish guy seems decent considering Ajax want him, and say what you will about Wrexham but they’re hovering around the play off as are Birmingham, If they keep spending there’s a chance that they’ll eventually get it right. I’d also argue that both are a decent manager away from being right up there
Birmingham aren't "hovering around the playoffs" at all. Next year perhaps, but not this one.

Granted a lot of their more deluded fans seem to think they're almost a shoo-in for the top 6, then Wembley, the same lot that only conceded a couple weeks ago that they may not make the autos after all.

But they're only "hovering" around them if that means "comfortably ensconced in mid-table" where they've been practically all season, paying their players stupid money to keep them there.

They're not going to make the playoffs either. They may have a major upsurge in away form with this star-studded list of supposed A-list footballers, but they're maxing out at 8th/7th at a push this year. Reason being that the top 5 are too far ahead and too bloody good for them to catch IMHO (10 points in 17 games on sides performing well some with a game in hand is a huge ask) and that leaves the side currently in 6th who are also filthy rich and making a bit of a better fist of it.

They could well sail past a dropping Preston and Stoke, a Mehmeti-less Bristol City and hot and cold Derby & QPR, but I imagine they'll at best be fighting Watford at the end of the season for who gets to finish 7th and who 8th. They could well perform better than the Hornets MAYBE, given that Watford have a 4 point head start and a game in hand too.

In other words, the best they can hope for with their "galacticos of the championship" is a huge to push to rise to the heady heights of the same as we ended up with for the last 2 seasons, that being with our side assembled at a fraction of the cost and half of them seemingly on the treatment table throughout to boot.
