We managed to be the best of the rest and I’d back us to manage that again. We do need to get our defence and goalkeeper recruitment right though, conceding so many poor goals makes the task harder than it needs to be

If Allen leaves as we're told he probably will, Galbraith feels like the ideal upgrade as he can cover midfield and RB if needed, a bit like Eccles.

Orient want north of 1.5 million though. Doubt we pay that for an Allen repalcement

I could see it with him being able to cover a couple of spots. Just as likely one of the U21s fills that role though tbf if Eccles stays as well.

I also dont see him coming as potentially a 4th/5th choice. He is linked heavily with Swansea where he would walk into their midfield from the start

Just to give you an insight into how lucky we are with DK after the disastrous S*SU years.

Here’s what’s happening at Sheffield Weds.

They’ve only got 16 first team players (including 9 u21’s).

Because of financial impropriety-

They have a transfer ban for the next 3 transfer windows and cannot resign (after contract lapses -Barry Bannon for eg-ironically he’s been offered a contract which he can’t sign but has been training at the club) or sign anyone.

They missed last months wages and are late for this months.

Because of this 9 players have written to club the club asking for the immediate cancellation of their contracts & unless they get paid within 14 days they become out of contract players (free transfers).

Also entire 1st team coaching staff have left because of unpaid wages and Danny Rohl has not come back to the club since the end of last season.

Danny Rohl has a 5M release clause in his contract which is stopping prospective clubs going for him (but obvs he can go if they don’t pay his wages for a second month).

Players (those that are left)reported back to training last Thursday to find the training pitches not suitable to play on and they spent most of the day in the Gym-players were given individual plans and asked to train at home by academy coach.

On Monday Training pitches still not ready and players rented out a local athletics track to train on.

Sheff Weds find themselves literally in the same situation that Bolton were in a few years ok probably having to play with teenagers and getting hammered every week.

Now is the time to put bets on their relegation!

Always someone worse off than yourself!

From what I've read from Wednesday fans the coaches contracts had expired.

The training ground is out of action for the next few weeks - I'm assuming that the club has actually spent money on having work done, but who knows. They are said to be looking at using the FA's St George's Park.

And the tax bill has not been paid.

And the North stand may be partially or even fully closed due to its condition.
And no pre-season friendlies have been arranged.

And non-playing staff, or at least those not there to fluff him, have not been paid.

And the ground is owned by a company that's owned by his wife.

And he's looking for over £100m pounds to sell, not including the ground. If you pay £5m upfront just to talk.

Then to cap it all, Chansiri is cynically/sensibly (take your pick) ensuring those players he believes have a resale value are retained. But screw the rest of you lads.

I mean, I know we’re supposed to hate Wednesday now, but have always thought they were the better Sheffield club (low bar, admittedly).

Good to hear, but hard to know how it can be achieved without the club's cooperation.

Wednesday fans, along with most fans, had no problem taking the piss out of our situation and were generally unsympathetic.
I have read a lot of Wednesday fans posting and criticising the EFL regulations around ownership responsibilities over the last few days. How the EFL need to be more robust. I don’t remember them being so vocal when it was us, Bolton, Bury or Oldham that was in trouble?

My point is I don’t want to see any club go out of business. Even one of our biggest rivals, because football is built on rivalry.
Before any fan wades in laughing and taking the piss, remember in a few years time it could be your club. Remember when you want an owner to spend, spend, spend chasing a dream, the money can run out and the accumulated debt become unserviceable.

Enjoy what you have and what you have got. If you want better and fairer governance campaign for it, all fans together. Don’t wait and bleat when your club has paddled up shit creek.

Tough times ahead for Wednesday. I hope it is resolved quickly.

Not familiar with his background... What happened to him? Injury? General loss of form?

Automatic points deduction I believe if this turns it to be true. Blades were deducted 2 points for a late payment.

When he first took over in 2016/2017 the owner spent loads big - they lost in successive play-offs

This seems to be a problem with Asian owners of Leicester and Sheff Wed, their businesses at the moment seem very volatile and it's coming back to bite the football side of things. So for Sheff Wed it's not just the staff who haven't been paid, but other clubs in the EFL who are awaiting payments for players etc. It's going to be a long hard road for them this season, I don't feel sorry for the fans ( see peoples previous posts on how they treated us) but I do for the players and especially non playing staff they shouldn't have to cope with this shit

People are making really good points
Some clubs have class and I’d like to think we do
It’s a disgrace that owners can destroy 100’s of years of history and we should call them out all of them
