Is the idea Sheff U finishing top 6 still hilarious?…
Yes.

They have a few good players but not a decent 1st team. Their reserves are not even good enough to wash the cars of our players. They will be lucky to finish mid table.

Do we have a first team AND and FA Cup tie team? Would be nice to be able to focus on the league and still have a bit of an FA cup run... Not sure about the left-side but we do have surplus full-backs I think...

We won't lose either home game imo, Blunts or Baggies. So the away games, Wrexham away could be tricky, I don't mind a point, I can't see us losing though... I guess Robins and Stoke is the trickiest really, they are a very low percentage team, tend to play for a 1-0. Don't think that's enough against us personally.
One of the things I hated about Robins we seemed to take our foot off the gas when we scored I much prefer smashing teams

Latest Opta stats (y)
Interesting that a projected 87 points would win the championship for us this year, but would only have put us 4th last year (Leeds & Burnley 100, Sheff Utd 90)

87 is a good number for CCFC in more ways than one👍

Do we think we need more points than 87? I think it might be in 90’s
I think every team will lose expected points all across the board and that will suppress the upper totals possible. However my heart says remain unbeaten until December and have an 11 point gap to 3rd and I will be over the moon

Every team below 5th needs at least 2 points per game to get to 87 (probably need 88 with goal difference), where on current form CCFC have a 20 pt drop off (currently trending to 107 pts).

Which of the teams in 3rd to 5th are likely to achieve more than 87 points and can the likes of Ipswich and Leicester sustain form at more than 2 points per game for the rest of the season?

We sustained brilliant form to recover last season for 5th spot, stranger things have happened. In seasons without parachute clubs running away with it though, 90 points or thereabouts should be sufficient.

That still requires us to win another 20 games plus a few draws, nearly two thirds of the remaining fixtures. Lots of hard work to do that.
