The problem Sheffield United have is they have a poor squad. They sold good players and brought in mainly low quality replacements.

They're good enough for mid table but not good enough to make the top 6.

Yeah it seems like it's a big ask for them to mount a play off charge given who they've lost.

Still some capable players but not a lot of goals in that team really on the face of it.

I think most probably expected a new manager bounce when Wilder came in but sustaining that form for an extended run is another thing entirely.

Back to Wasps getting 18000 with freebies, that was at the time we were dropping through league 1 and into league 2 without our own ground, and getting crowds of less than 10k

Their are probably people at the CBS now who were part of that for the ride, before it broke down, and now realise where the real party is, and I think that is why we now see a lot more girls and families at the game than probably 15+ years ago

The CBS is now a very safe place to watch football whatever sex/race / sexual orientation - Long may that continue, but that was previously one of the arguments people used to go to the Rugger instead

Is there any news on how they’re expecting to fund this new stadium?

Is he asking for a HS2 esque planning hold up as the locals in the Cotswolds won't want to see a ghastly stadium like they didn't want to see a ghastly fast train

Have they suggested what it might cost? Surely looking at well over £500m

It’s all hubris - You can see the BT tower in Birmingham from afar if you look for it and no one gives a fuck

Blokes an embarrassment and he will have cherry blossom poisoning from the amount of bootlicking he’s had to do to politicians to get this stadium pushed through

But it took a run of something like 27 points from a possible 30 from memory. It can be done but that sort of run won't be achieved from a lower team often.

Most seasons there is a team that 'come from nowhere' to clinch playoffs. You had Forest in 21/22, us and Boro in 22/23, us and Bristol last season. In fairness, Bristol were in the top half but it was v strong home form that got them over the line - particularly against playoff teams.

With respect to ourselves, we ended the season with a stutter and we really should've finished 4th last season 7 points - our last away win was the 1st March v Oxford and going onto losing to Derby, Plymouth, Luton and drawing to Hull.

Lamps said:
We also had the same players then as we do now with extra quality that have hardly played. It took us a manager change and ever since we haven't looked back.

I have a feeling it could be a high amount of points to usual to get to the playoffs. 10th place are averaging just over 1.5 points a game and 71 points for the season. Last season we had 3 clubs with a lot of points which reduced the amount of points available for the other clubs. This season there's us and maybe Middlesbrough that could pull away from the rest.

The Top 6 had more points at this point last season than this one and the table looks v similar. There isn't much variation between this season and last. It's far too early to consider anyone as 'favourites', for example, we're on the same points tally as Sunderland last season.

The Spurs stadium was close to a billion. Building materials have rocketed since then. They will be paying a similar amount at least if they want a 60k stadium.

I would think Blues will be looking for a lot of support financially from Birmingham city council so best of luck with that as those fuckers can’t sort out the bins.

Land prices will come into it. For some unknown reason people want to live in London. Birmingham? Most probably will get paid to take the land over

BCFC are a fantasy football club. People are getting taken in by the hype. They are years away from getting promoted. They have spent untold millions just to become average. They're not even a big club in their own city. I'm enjoying watching them throw money at a basket case. It isn't easy buying your way out of the Championship. We have done it the right way. Build up a good squad then keep them together and let them improve. Trying to change your 1st team every year looking for improvement isn't easy.

Things getting really serious for Wednesday.
Let's hope for their sake, that Chansiri doesn't get the same administrator as SISU, and that he is then announced as the 'new' owner.
Hoping on their behalf, that this painful period of time, leads to new ownership.

Sheffield Wednesday should be OK. Chansiri is struggling with cash flow and this wouldn't change after administration. Football debts would still need to be paid.

I still think he hasn't sold them because he can't afford to. Loans secured against the football club as well as secured on the ground would have to be repaid before any sale went ahead. The football club in a financial mess and looking like getting relegated wouldn't be worth much without the ground.

I think they bought the land already - it’s the area where the wheels project was just north of the current stadium - used to be able to park there ?

If Chansiri has engineered it so that he and his associates are the biggest creditors, then the choice of administrator doesn't make much difference. He can still vote to accept an offer of 3 pence to the £.

The only tricky thing is Chansiri owns Hillsborough, he sold it to himself a few years ago to dress the accounts up

So regardless of a new owner of the football club or not they are still at his mercy and he could evict them tomorrow if he wanted to

I agree he could. But as he is struggling for cash flow and owes a lot of money on the club and ground he would need the cash flow from the rent.

But on the other hand who knows what someone like Chansiri would do if he lost control of the club. It's a vanity project gone totally wrong.

Imagine if he lost the club but kept the ground. Sheffield Wednesday would have to play in a stadium with his name right across one of the stands still

I don't think that'll happen...they'll be going into administration, not out of existence.

They'll likely get -12 points deduction taking them to -6 so 15 points off safety and therefore likely relegation.

We're not in a position yet where they'll need to take points away from teams they've played.

And it's not just 12 points for administration. They will also lose about another 15 points for not paying football debts and players on time.

But as you said they will be safe from going out of business with the administrator taking control.
