So sort the pitch ourselves and take it out of the rental package. Clearly Wasps didn't do anything because they're skint and if we're already committed to giving them money it's no extra expense

And when Wasps ruin it or hire it out for the rugby World Cup do we just pay to fix it again?

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks sisu know Wasps are trying to manage their own administration around the corner the way that they did with ours.

What they're doing by not forcing the pitch is building up a significant enough charge against Wasps so we can force the admin and get someone more favourable to manage it which will result in a ccfc owned arena.

But how does that work?

We find out in June, we whack a pitch down, it then gets hammered by the rugby.

Do we then get a share and a say of the events there?

We whack a pitch down and do Wasps' job because if they're not willing to do it themselves we have an even bigger problem. A new pitch that has rugby on it wouldn't be in the same state as one that's already had a full season of both sports.

We can say and we'd be right that Wasps should have put on a new pitch but that doesn't change the reality of what we're now left with because they haven't done anything.

Said earlier in the week it was a bit concerning that nobody had mentioned what the plan actually was to fix it. Not asking much for an update from both clubs acknowledging the problem and giving a plan to resolve it.

It wouldn't be any extra money above what we're already paying them

Realistically what action could the club have taken. What they were told was that a new pitch wasn't being laid as promised. It doesn't then follow automatically that Wasps are going to do fuck all to ensure the current pitch is fit for purpose. You can still have a reasonable exception that the most basic criteria of leasing a football stadium would be met.

If we did pay to relay a pitch would Wasps have even allowed it?

We pay our rent quarterly in advance, if we were withholding that then I suspect we wouldn't have been allowed access to the stadium for match days.

We also don't have access to non-match days so we would have needed their agreement to get it done, if that involved withholding rent when they are so skint I doubt they'd have gone for it.

You're right, we shouldn't have to-but look at what's happening now because nobody did anything. Do it ourselves, take the cost out of the rent and get the pitch in a fit state.

Had we done that before the CWG we wouldn't have had to call off the first 3 competitive home games.

if the solution here is not attempting to improve our squad because our landlords are so terrible they can't provide a pitch for us then the answer is not to avoid signing player, worsen the squad and piss off the manager. It's to find a way to get better landlords.

That's where negotiation and discussions need to happen. But look at the two heads of the respective organisations, may as well solve a Rubiks cube in the dark

Would Wasps have agreed to it though?

We can't do anything to the arena without their say so.

That would have been a sensible way about it.

I think the ownership would rather use this as another way to increase the pressure on the landlords though.

Lets be honest, we all know talk of a new stadium is bollocks, they've always been interested in the arena. With Wasps heading towards serious trouble they are just trying to squeeze their foot in the door.
If that’s the plan I’m not sure I really get it. Is pressure effective? It damages both brands and that’s about it.
Wasps will leave when their owner thinks it’s in his financial interest. As if he cares what our supporters think of him.

What happens if wasps didn't agree and then claimed we weren't paying rent?

I'm sure the money is more important to them right now.

Yes but also the EFL will know what's happened.

They have sent independent experts out.

As above it's where people from both organisations need to sit down and talk to solve the practical problem. We can say till the cows come home that it's Wasps fault and fundamentally it is but just repeating that isn't going to stop games getting called off.

Then we'd have done all we reasonably could to solve the problem. Not suggesting we should have got a new pitch and then stopped paying rent, but to have tried negotiating a deal to that effect.
