I've posted numerous times in the past about this. He was always having to cover for Christies forays into the opposition box and lost a major part of his game for the sake of the team.
I for one will be happy if he comes back (Baker not Chrisite).

Strange how Christie played in the Championship last season and Baker in League 2.

Not really, Christie was still learning his craft at City.

I always liked him. And he would play his heart out for us as he would want to be here, something which has been lacking of late

Clearly you're not still having flashbacks of his pusillanimous display at Southampton away on the last day of the relegation season, amongst many other anonymous, ineffectual performances for us during his time with us.

His problem there was that he wasn't really good enough for the Championship

I agree Baker is a fan of CCFC and has brought his kids up as fans etc etc
For me he was "hit and miss" and would have one great game and then go missing for two weeks.
Could probably do a good job for us in League 2 as he proved at Pompey last season.
I trust MR judgement so will be happy if he gets him back but wouldn't make him a marquee signing on big bucks.

If we just sign the entire Pompey team I'll be happy.

Yes but there were over 30 games this season when you could have said that about the 11 on the pitch, i never said he was good, I said I liked him, but I do take your point consistency was not a strength

I like baker got quite good skill and turns but lacks that couple of yards of pace especially when in the championship, but that said he probably has my vote on the best performance in a game at the Ricoh against Birmingham I think it was in Richard Shaw's first game in charge he were fantastic that night

Great game, I remember getting to the game late and us already being a goal down...and the first thing I saw as I took my seat behind the goal was the ball cannoning off Murphy's crossbar! Having sat in traffic for an hour to get to there I was thinking...great, here we go...one of those days...nevertheless we left with big grins on our faces that night!

I'd have him back but not as captain. Remember him waving his arms around shouting at everybody when he was out of position or didn't have the ball passed to him? Used to drive me mad.

Thought so too. Although we some how won, Baker was fantastic and was ripping our defence apart all game.

Think that's referring back to last year when he wanted to come back but had no contact.

Suppose he won't have yet though because a deal will have to be ironed out between us and Pompey first.

Well good, we aren't allowed to talk to him while he's under contract at Pompey, we'd need their permission.

Coventry City boss Mark Robins is believed to be keen to bring former fans' favourite Carl Baker back to the Ricoh Arena.

The Telegraph understands that the Sky Blues' boss is hoping to secure a return for the skilful forward, whom he made captain when he inherited the player back in his first spell in charge in 2012.
