Could also be that Brighton don't want to send him somewhere to sit on the bench for the season. Surely if he went to Rangers he'd be behind Butland in the pecking order?
I read one article suggesting they wanted him to extend his contract before any loan was approved. Maybe we have offered a loan to buy instead of a straight loan

Would be very prudent to take on loan with an option to purchase in the event that (a) he’s good, and (b) Dovin doesn’t fully recover to his prior abilities.

Regarding the supposed £6m fee. If anyone can sort it, Doug can. Look what he did with the Binks deal and rumoured fee.

Aw the poor diddums - so you'd rather we just have 1 player for every position?
No, just saying I don’t think it works.

You can’t rotate keepers like you can outfield players. Having no clear #1 just means whoever’s playing is always looking over their shoulder, and it inevitably only lasts a season before one of them gets fed up with not playing enough and wants to leave.

Always looking over their shoulder rather than not needing to and letting standards slip

Brighton are the same as every club in the country, if a player they value is going into the last year of his contract they will not send him out on loan unless the player signs an extended deal.

They will not risk the said player doing well raising his profile and leaving for free. Is he signs the deal Brighton will loan him out to Rangers, Queens park rangers or any others rangers asking. Could be the local park ranger no extension no loan.....

I was very much “Wilson in goal not the end of the world”, but a loan for this guy would be a good move. He must be as experienced a loan as we could get for the position.

If Collins wants out that’s great news too.

£6m signing feels like insanity, unless we are actually rolling in it.

I'd be very surprised if he wants out before the end of his contract, who else is going to pay him for being a goal keeper?

No wonder we let so many goals in if our keepers are constantly looking over their shoulders

Dean Austin’s summer scouting consisted entirely of googling championship clubs awards ceremonies.
